Q&A with Dundon

Of course! We're working on a similar setup to the 991 Catted and mating the 997.1 and .2 headers to it. We're hopeful to have them out in the next 6-8 weeks. For the 997.2 RS the 4.0RS plenum is appropriate with our Race Headers. For the 997.2 GT3 we're testing our plenum design melds the 3.8RS plenum with a 3.6 center so it's a direct bolt on. (the 997.2 GT3 has the same plenum as the 997.1 3.6L).

Yes you need the lower plenums, boots etc... but it all bolts on without issue. It helps with power higher in the rpm range. Where are you in the world, you can send the ECU or we can send you the tool and remote in to do the tuning...

I agree that you will see just a few HP from the sport cats and additional 10-15HP from the ECU tune but there is no way you get 30-40HP from the headers alone. That is not only my opinion but any reputable tune shop. I have no business here so please excuse me stating the above.
I will eat my hat if I proven wrong.
I absolutely agree.
Quote from Dundon:
We have 0.5sec 1/4 mile time gains, 40whp gains on our dyna pack dyno, a dynojet dyno belonging to a friend, and Titan Motorsports dyno showed 50+ whp gains on Matt Moreman's car.
50+ whp, I have nothing,,,, SMH.
I know, there is proof, so it has to be accurate.

40hp at this p/w ratio is only a couple or 3 tenths and 1 or 2 mph in the quarter, which is way inside the margin of driver error, so you need a more sensitive instrument. The only way to do that is with a dyno or vbox run at pretty high speed.
My car definitely sounds better, but I honestly didn't notice different straightway terminal speeds at Sebring. However, glancing at the speedo at 150mph on the back straight is hardly science and doesn't account for temp, tires, previous corner exit, etc. My laps were quite a bit faster, but I had new tires (so that's not scientific either).
Matt Mooreman has been pretty straightforward and critical of various exhausts, so I don't know why his dyno data would be biased.

On the engine side I spoke a bit at Smokies:
Phase 2 of the Spyder build is 4.5L bore and stroke. The fruit of this will allow us to easily make 4057cc (4.1L) engines with just a bore and big piston swap, 4167cc (4.2L) with stroker crank and new rods and 4.5L for the full meal deal. First parts are finishing design/mfg. These parts also apply to other 9A1's including the 991 GT3 and RS, but have to fix the valve train first...

Parts went through a few revisions as some simple things like retaining clips for the wrist pins weren't available, so we had to redesign a few parts around the available retaining clips. That said, all is in process now, crank should be finished up in a few weeks, rod and pistons are also a week or two out. Will update all in a different thread once we have some of the parts here.
