Default PDK or Manual - Allocation Decision

I have a manual 911. I absolutely love it.

I am getting a July GT3/PDK allocation. If I go for the manual, I am not sure if the dealer will get an allocation to get one of the first manuals in fall.

Should I just go for the PDK and enjoy the car this summer? Am I sweating this too much?

only you can really answer this question, have you driven a PDK equipped car before?

I have a manual 997 GT3 and a 991 PDK GTS both of them have their pros and cons - on the whole I
find the shifting pattern of the PDK (non-S) in normal or even sport to be annoying how it short shifts
but on the track and in "manual" mode - the shifting is intoxication...

So, in theory the manual will be more "involving" but it will be slower than the PDK-S ... so which do you want?

personally I am going for a 6MT...

also worth pointing out that all of the 911R reviews have waxed lyrical over the 6MT therein, which AFIAK is the same box the 991.2 GT3 will get (perhaps with different ratios?)

IF you can shift faster than PDK then great--other than that PDK for me.

well ... I will have to sell my 997.2 GT3 in order to get one of these beasts, allocations permitting, so I am not so sure about the "smart" part!

No need for another PDK vs. Manual thread.

My advice - wait and get what you want. Don't rush the process.

The car will be brilliant in either configuration. But get the manual while Porsche is still offering it.

Srsly. Can't Admin group all these repetitive threads under one heading?

This.

I love the PDK in my 991.1 C4S and would be extremely happy with the PDK in the .2 GT3. But I also love manuals and this may very well be the last new car I buy with a manual.

edit: I should also add that having rev matching allows you to be lazier with the manual when you are driving around at slower speeds. It's really half way between a standard manual and a PDK gearbox in a way. But then being able to turn it off when you want to try and shift like a pro is perfect.

You should get the car you ultimately want, not something to have just because you can have it a couple months sooner.

Had a manual 997.2 GTS a few years back. Always lusted after the PDK, but owning the .1 GT3 for the last 2 years, the choice is easy for me. Back to the MT.

I read this as you are concerned that you'll loose the allocation.

Work with your dealer and get the manual.
