That's simply not true. More like 99% of the people out there couldn't be remotely as fast with the manual as they can with the PDK, particularly when the going gets curvy and a lot of repeated downshifting is involved. It takes an exceptional driver to even get close the performance of the PDK.

me too...just put in a 13 hour day, feeling tired, hungry and pissed off--got in the GT4 , rolled down the windows, turned on the music (not too loud to drown out the flat 6 though) and rowed through the gears up and down 1-6 stop light to stop light, H-T'ing --brilliant!----instant smiles, like I actually didn't't have a long $h11ty day!

I will never get rid of a MT as long as my left leg holds out

My concern as well. Not getting any younger so will I regret the MT years down the road from now?

The 458 would have to be yellow though.

I doubt 99% of MT GT3 buyers have no clue how to drive a manual. General public, may be. But even if one is 2-3 seconds slower on a 2 minute track, that will still account to about 98% as quick.

That is not the point though. This GT3 has 500hp and exceptional handling. Even if the MT is slower, your butt will feel as fast as in it as in the PDK, but with the extra fun. You cannot get the same experience in a Mazda miata. In addition, who really cares about lap times, except keeping track of their own improvement? I think skill is what determines how quick you are, not MT vs PDK.

Get yourself a MT Boxster S. A hell of a lot cheaper. Oops will I get banned for referring to hell?

BTW...no one answered by config. questions

I am not a track guy. I bought my first 911 in 2006 as my daily driver. It is a MT. For first five years or so I was driving it like a normal manual car. I accidentally discovered driving at higher revs. It is truly an out of this world experience. Controlling a Porsche high rev. engine with MT is like driving a motor bike. I seriously do not think the analog experience of driving a MT at high revs. can be replaced by a PDK.

I am completely bummed that I cannot get a MT GT3. I am hoping for a surprise!

A lot of people are scared of 5-2 money shifting the very expensive motor (well, for me it will be!)... if the 1-4 ratios are the same as the PDK, you'd have to be traveling more than 77mph to money shift in 2nd. Around town, and reasonable highway driving, it simply isn't a major worry.

Now to keep driving reasonable!

Let's keep in mind that Porsche didn't have to bring the manual back to the GT3. If they didn't, everyone here that prefers a manual would STILL buy the 991.2 GT3/RS with a PDK and still enjoy every single moment spent driving the car. FACT!

And you would be incorrect. I had my spot for a 991.1 GT3 but after no MT, I passed. Also passed on the RS.
Which is why I have been on the waiting list for this 6mt GT3 for 2 years.

He comes from the Nissan forums and he's already teaching us lessons. Imagine if he actually gets a Porsche!

You can never know enough! I'm a newbie in comparison to some of the old timers that have had 20 Porsches.
Apparently over on the Nissan forums there's heavy pecker measuring according to whom drives a manual or not.
