Asking prices are worthless, and someone needs to post up some Manheim numbers or CJ can tell us what these are really selling for at the dealer level.

I find the OP's experience comically tragic- on the one hand we are told these cars are so high demand that they require an ADM of thousands of dollars, and then 1-2 years later are so worthless that a dealer won't even take the risk to place it in inventory at any price nor even buy it at auction value.

Why is anyone surprised by this information? When I heard that Porsche was coming out with a .2GT3 within three months I had sold my 2014 GT3 and let my dealer know I wanted the .2 GT3. I then ordered a 2017 Targa which my dealer would love to have and will get.

Gentlemen, Porsche telegraphs their moves. Don't ignore the tea leaves.

Budd... was referring to 991 GT3 only, since that is what this thread is about. If you add 991 RS, then add 50. Still not hundreds. As I said, no idea about trends, nor to I care to. Whether it is a lot or not depends on your perspective.

It's way more than 100. There are 87 '15s and '16s alone on Autotrader. Throw in '14s and then consider the fact that many, many dealers don't even post their cars on Autotrader and there are way over 100 for sale right now.

Those are auction prices for 2015 GT3's? I wouldn't pay that retail for a '15.

I'm as big a Porsche fan as anyone, but all these dealer gyrations make me anxious to complete an Ariel Atom S3 with a fully built 900HP turbo K24 honda motor.

Revving to 9k, and 500HP. That's cute!

Rob, you have a healthy attitude about your car, mileage and depreciation. Had I been getting the use out of my GT3 that I originally thought I would, I would still have it.

Unless one wants a manual transmission or has to have the latest and greatest I just don't see that much advantage to the 991.2 GT3 either.
My guess is that Porsche will take care of the documented and well known top end engine problems on the 991.1. If an owner is nervous about repair costs, for the cost of trading to the .2 one could just buy more extended warranty.

However it does seem there is a backlog of GT3's and RS's for sale right now all priced at a premium like where the market was a year ago. If we do not see movement soon in the next month or two with the arrival of nice weather through the country I expect to see significant price drops, perhaps 10%.

As a data point I sold my 14 GT3 to a Porsche dealership for within $2500 of my top estimate (based on following Rennlist classifieds etc) for what it would bring had I sold it directly and reasonably quickly to a private owner. The dealership already had one used GT3 in stock but did not seem uncomfortable buying mine.

I would happily buy another 991.1 GT3 used if my circumstances changed.
I loved the car and did not have a single problem with it.

Thanks for the data. Based on this data, the dealer could have offered WM about $120K, and sold it for $135K without much of a risk. The refusal to make a trade-in offer is perplexing.
