My SA keeps telling me GT cars holds value, it is exclusively sold to Porsche good customers and that's why they can't sell it to new customers like me.

They refer to these used 991.1 GT3 and RS on autoTrader that are selling 50K - 100K over sticker.
Alright.... all customers are idiots and will not realize these cars has been eating dust for 8-9 months.

Told my SA to keep my 2-year-old deposit and call me once he has an allocation for me at MSRP.

The hard part is finding exactly the spec you want, with the right price, CPO, etc. The market is set at a point where willing buyers and sellers meet. In your case, that might not happen with either the .1 or .2's.

Capitalism sucks lol.

For sure, my spec would be a bit of a challenge and I'd have to give a little, but even then, I would just massively discount a used .1 for a number of reasons. Not ripping on the car at all, just giving some perspective of one real potential buyer. I would buy a .1 GT3 today if the price was right, but the asking prices out there are nowhere near right in my opinion.

Same spec car, I would pay at least $40k more for a new .2 over a super low mileage '16 .1. The idea that people think a used .1 GT3 should sell for around MSRP is nuts to me. But again, that's just me. And I've been known to be a cheap bastard.

Smart move. Why would you take a beating on what is basically a new car, when the one replacing it is only going to be marginally better? And, that one is going to take a beating in a few years too, if you decide to sell it.

These cars are amazing. Just enjoy them. 15,000 miles on mine!

The problem is the 991.1 GT3s have a black eye. Engined replaced, potential future top-end rebuild ect. 2016s probably safe.

There was a very good reason I moved my car last March. Aside from wanting a Manual I did not want to get hosed down the road.

I am not patting myself on the back by any means and I was also not the only one here who did the same thing I did. There was a person on this forum that said the 991.1 GT3 may go down as one of the great ones because of the 9000 redline or it could be a big black eye. Also- what do you do when factory warranty is up??

Regrettably these cars are going to take a big hit but if you enjoyed it for 3 or 4 years are you really taking a big hit or just normal depreciation like a Turbo but an exception for a GT3??

Absolutely. Not to knock the car, but as a potential buyer, there is still the question of durability of that motor. CPO helps, but doesn't eliminate the potential headache. I understand that nobody knows about the new motor either, but the .1 engine issues are still a cloud in many buyers minds, mine included.

Also you have the simple fact that you're buying a used car, a used high performance sports car that someone else has certainly driven hard and you really have no idea how it's been handled. And you don't get any of the tweaks of the new car (power, suspension, steering, interior, PCM, etc.), which collectively make a difference.

If owned a .1 already, I wouldn't give a rat's *** about any of this stuff. But if I'm looking for one, I'm going to factor it all into my pricing decision. And, at least to me, they're some very big issues.

Does this mean the value threads will stop and that people will start driving their cars again?

I browse the GT3 classified on cars.com and autotrader often - the list keeps getting longer (we're talking hundreds of car nationwide). It's now several pages long and I don't see the prices coming down significantly. That's why dealers aren't able to move those cars. How can they still ask above MSRP on a 2014 and 2015 model...

Just fyi, smart money on these cars right now for ULTRA low miles and pristine condition is about $20K-22k under MSRP, unless its a 2014. That's a huge hit for driving the car 2000 miles. Like I said, THAT'S depreciation...

Prices softening, yes (esp in light of the OPs experience). Hundreds for sale, no. Looks like about 100 give or take on the market, although I don't track them like some do since I'm not in the market.

Looks to be a good time to be a buyer, a ton of car for the money, esp CPO.

I sold mine for 20k below msrp about a month ago. It had 157k msrp. I owned it exactly for 2 years, 7.3k miles.
I will be getting into a .2 gt3, which has around the same msrp. If I avoid the taxes this time around, it would be a 30k loss and a .2 gt3 swap. If not, the swap would cost me 40k. I still think it's worth it.
