downforce in lbs GT3, RS
I know the .2 GT3 has 20% more downforce, the same as a 997.2 RS, but does anyone know that actual numbers?
I would be very interested to know the lbs of downforce, on the front and on the rear for the .2 GT3 and the the .1 RS if anyone has that information?

In pounds...
243 lbs front @186 mph
485 lbs rear @ 186 mph
728 lbs total ( numbers are slightly low compared to what AP cites in article below, but are close enough)
If I remember correctly, 991.1 GT3 is around 150 lbs total downforce, and 997 was even less (though dependent on model obviously)

Excerpt from interview with AP:
991.1 GT3 RS 350 kg @300 km/h and for comparison 997 4.0 had 170 kg at 300 km/hr
243 lbs front @186 mph
485 lbs rear @ 186 mph

Thank you. Good article by AP.
Interesting that AP states the total downforce of the 997 RS 4.0 is over 300lbs, so while the 4.0 RS has more than the regular 997.2 RS, I expect that means the 991.2 GT3 total downforce is in that ballpark....

You are welcome.
I would guess that the 4.0 might have a steeper angle of attack on the rear wing and the front canards would also add some down force to the front to balance things.
The key is to add down force to the front axle (1/3 total up front and 2/3 at the rear) and that is harder to do compared to more wing at the back... If too much rear down force, you end up pivoting around rear axle and getting a light front end...

The 4.0 had more angle.
Barron uprights added even more.
With a CUP front lip you can add a little to the fronts 997 nose.
No such help on the 991RS but I found it makes plenty downforce without max attack angle.
Its whybthe RS is no faster then a GT3 over 80-100MPH
The new GT3 with PDKS is going to fly....

I will answer my own question after watching the drivetribe video again where AP states the .2 GT3 has between 155-160 kilos of downforce or basically 345-350lbs of downforce for the .2 GT3.
That's actually a bit more than I thought. I know the .1 RS has insane downforce with that huge wing and the front fenders, but does someone know the lbs of downforce for the .1 RS? 600lbs?
