Search button working well.. I was searching the "weight" and " quality "of the bose to see if worth the extra $3,400. I don't think anyone answered the original weight question, but in any case, some earlier comments from the 997 series suggest that the Bose option wasn't much better then standard ?

Any comments on the quality differential in the later series cars ?

997 Bose is not a relevant comparison, IMHO. I had Bose in a 997 and it was pretty terrible. I have Bose in a 991.1, and it was a significant step up.

Haven't heard the .2, but if it is improved over .1, then I would venture to say not bad. (Not Burmester to be sure, but that isn't on the table anyway.)

I get the weight question and consideration. If a daily, then for me the duality does matter. I find the "I listen to the engine" to be great at times, and a very tired cliche other times.

997 RS radio deleted saved approximately 7lbs. Can't imagine it's much different in 991, maybe another pound or two.

In a review of Tidal, Spotify and Apple, the latter was preferred. I HIGHLY doubt anyone could hear a difference between them in car, however.

Strange they don't offer the Burmeister, it is the lightest stereo available in a Porsche. (At least that is what I read elsewhere on the forum.)

Sounds like approximately 3 gallons of fuel.

I think Burmester veto that, on cars without acceptable acoustics to show off their wares.Either that or Porsche think they can't deliver to customer expectations in these types of car.

On the 918s, adding back in the Burmetser on Weissach cars, automatically meant mandatory sound deadening was also added back. (Door pockets etc, unconnected to actual system, just the sound environment)

You can gets burmester on Turbo S, but not on GT cars for same reason I think.

The base stereo is already the "sound package plus" so I can't imagine adding bose adds more than a couple few pounds.

I would tick the box, especially given it's a GT3 and not an RS.

I would pass on this upgrade. The engine and road noise will be too much to enjoy

Best to go after market if you really want a system to enjoy

Figure you have a $1500 credit towards after market after my advice which is no chump change

And if you want to go aftermarket, the base non-Bose system is a better starting point for upgrade, as it leaves the space under the passenger seat open. The Bose amp occupies that area, and it uses a proprietary optical interface to the head unit that needs to worked around.

Of course, going aftermarket will involve allowing aftermarket folks into your car....

God forbid she gets molested

There are very qualified Professionals who do this for a living. Why not talk with them before finalizing your spec

Of course there are.

Some have displayed amazing workmanship on these pages.

There are also a lot of, um, less qualified professionals. I think it is part of the overall consideration.

Agree.

I have just heard mixed feelings on the Bose. I just think if I really wanted a kick *** system the after market is the route
