Assuming no 991.2 GT3RS, do you buy a 991.1 GT3RS or the 991.2 GT3?

Buy which ever car you like better. For me the RS with its wing ect is a little too much. I actually do not find it to be an attractive car.- no offense to many. I do find it to be a mean looking machine that has a presence/statement. I find the GT4 to be the prettiest of all the "GT" cars but find the GT3 to be the best looking if that makes any sense. Certainly has the best looking wing of all three and probably since the 991.1 the best of all the prior GT3s. One thing that can not deny is that I went thru all the BS with the engine in my 2014 GT3 so I am hoping they finally have a real proven motor sport engine in the .2, which, so far it looks like it does but time will test its durability. Happy the Manuals come later because prefer the bugs to be worked out the first 6 months.

Agree on all points. The RS looks too over the top for me, particularly as I daily my GT3 half of the week. The GT3 has exotic elements but still looks like a 911, and I can park it in my office parking lot.
Agree that with the .2 GT3 we will get the best of both worlds, as the .1RS and any .2 RS would have the same 339 torque as the .2 GT3, as all 4.0L Porsche street engines have had 339 ft-lbs since the original RS 4.0, and a little more hp doesn't matter that much if the torque is unchanged, so there is even less of a reason for me to desire an RS.
That plus I get to keep the 9K engine note, a more subtle looking car, have the manual option, and yes save 50K, but the $ doesn't make the decision for me.
The .2 GT3 hits all the major notes for me, and I don't think there will be any NA GT car to truly lust over for quite a while after the .2 GT3 (for me at least), so I expect to keep my .2 GT3 for 8 years or more, which will be a first for me with any car.

Waxer, no disrespect, but you've said that last sentence in your post about 80 times in your posts in the 13 days since the .2 GT3 was announced. It's like a mantra for you at this point.
Different strokes for different folks. I've very happy for you in your RS. However, it's important to understand that not all GT3 owners are secretly desiring an RS. Plenty of us are completely happy with our cars, and as I described above, actually choose a GT3 over an RS, when we could have gotten an RS if we wanted to.
Its good that both options are available for our difference preferences, just like some guy prefer blondes, etc.

Answering the OP's question, I would choose 991.2 GT3 over 991.1 RS. I love the big wing in your face look of the RS, but in the end, the engine and MT of the GT3 would win out.
There is a tiny voice inside my head that is saying Porsche will make a MT version 991.2 RS. This would be the car I would loose my sh*t over.

My cleaning lady says :
.2 RS coming.
NA.
No manual transmission.
As a side note : to those that keep bringing the 997 GT3/RS...brilliant car! I love it! I'd still own one. I'll probably lust for one till the end of days, but I won't pay what they go for now 8-9 years old. I just won't! That means I might never own one...and that's ok.
It's a great car : Mezger,6 speed,hydraulic steering...it works really really well!
BUT!!!! To say " that drivetrain worked perfectly with the 997 chassis and that car made sense to be mated to a 6 speed and the 991 doesn't/won't make sense " without driving the 991.2 GT3 with a 6 speed is a whole gigantic BS! Just sayin'...

We all recognize that RS holds value better than GT3, but that doesn't make my decision for me. Besides, I have that extra 50K in the market right now, and it's growing nicely.

As stated above, it's good to have options that fit our individual preferences.

"And of course, Preuninger isn't about to forget the track rats either. There's a new GT3 RS on its way and, yes, it'll be PDK only."

-Wingless/touring GT3 option is coming,
-718 with 4.0 coming, unclear if will be called RS or not, but very limited numbers/VIP,
-unclear on 991.2 GT3RS. New 4.0 to have multiple hp applications according to redline variability, no 4.2.
