Manufacturers are allowed to produce vehicles for over 12 months under 1 model year.

In the case of the 991.1RS they were produced from August/15 or so until dec 16

Default .2 probably are all 2018's

Porsche has had some issues with the EPA as backlash from the diesel gate stuff. Even the 2018 Cayenne which is a carry over model sat at US ports for months last summer, same with 18 Panamera's because the EPA played games. There was a time where some of the GT cars were slated to be 19's. Porsche pulled all of those build slots then reissued them as 2018's in order to not have to have the GT cars subjected to another round of EPA certification for 2019

I’ve dealt often with EPA on bringing in vehicles.
They were ******** long before the diesel scandal.

Think DMV except Import paperwork.

Shocking considering who was running the EPA. Thought they would stop caring about the environment.

Agencies are run by career bureaucrats. Ask yourself who wants a job at the EPA.

To clarify that a bit, they can produce cars in the second half of the year before the MY, but they can’t produce in the following year of the assigned MY. A car produced in 2019 cannot be called a 2018 MY car.

It surely doesn’t hurt to try but as someone who has been in the market for a GT3 Touring for some time now, let me tell you that there are not many of these to choose from and the dealers know it. Very few will come down much if at all. But absolutely try. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
