So what does this mean for 991.1 RS??

@ ShakeNBake: we are referring to MA175 (3.8 GT3) and MA176 (4.0 RS) engines. The updated GT3 MKII Engine sure has different components and different oiling.
@ Waxer: sure they changed the cam profile? I know about optimized materials. Would be interesting to know.
Btw. the 4.0 tops out some rpm earlier and the power curve goes down rapidly above 8500, thats why they lowered the shift points. Thats natural when using higher displacement with the same intake and cam timings.
The main changes (cams, finger followers, springs, oil pressure) startet by motor number F30xx. I guess that was introduced to the production in February or March 2015. Mine was produced in April and has motor number F31xx or so. All 4.0 have this changes from the beginning, including an updated oil pump.
In Summer 2016 they changed the camshafts again, now with DLC-coating. Thats applied in production to the last engines and also for replacement parts.

Cay-PI: good info. Thanks. Yes, AP made clear cam profiles were changed at unveiling of RS.
Seems even clearer then they wanted to back away from 9000 with hydraulics, lower pressures, add more oil squirters and be down in the same ballpark range as the 2012 4.0 which was 8250 rpm.

harder to sell 991RS when latest greatest on the horizon but values will shift again back up when allocation bs kicks in and arm bs gets going on new models.

I think you will find the largest premiums on low msrp cars. $225k seems to be the price floor, even for 180k cars. Of course there are always exceptions but this has been my recent experience.
