While I suppose I can see that, I think you're probably in the minority. And I doubt RL is representative of the broader population who I think would even more likely take the RS.

Edit: Although as I think about it I'd take a 991.1 GT3 over any variation of 997 GT3 simply because I like PDK and I'm not a collector. (All this setting values aside. Clearly a $500K car is a $500K car.)

It's not even a question for me. I would take my RS over a 991.2 GT3 all day everyday.

I would never trade my RS for a .2. I would add it for an addition, but never a trade.

Agreed.

GT3 and RS are very different cars. If you are a 991.1 RS owner thinking about swapping for a 991.2 GT3... "You're crazy, I like you, but you're crazy."

Unless its a transmission issue and you don't like the PDK.

RS owners, don't allow yourself to be suckered into these "value" debates. Not worth it. Just enjoy the car and trade it for a 991.2 GT3RS down the road if you want (I think they'll make one.)

991.2 GT3: The stick is back... but perhaps too late. The 991 platform is best with PDK.

Watch the market increase in 991.1 GT3 inventory. Prices will be competitive this summer. Anticipate a good deal. Make sure the car has warranty.....

991.1 GT3RS will see sticker price, especially if the GT2 is announced.

991R will not sustain what some folks paid over sticker, but very few of these cars made so market will remain scarce on them and most likey not trade hands for what people want and what people are willing to pay.

997GT3 Mezger motor and no rear wheel steer will allow the 997 to maintian its own market just as the 911, 964 and 993 RS models have.

They can't help it. I don't know why...
I personally wouldn't give 2 s**ts about what's coming from Porsche! I certainly wouldn't waste my time justifying anything... But it certainly is entertaining to watch from the sidelines.

I have to say, knowing what I know about the MA175 engine issues and now having if confirmed by Porsche themselves through a re design of the valve train in the 991.2 GT3, I personally would prefer a 991.2 GT3 over a 991.1 GT3RS for the track (where I use my GT3). With the larger capcity engine, a touch more torque and power, a little more aero, some steering and suspension updates and the new generation N1 tyres (already fitted to RS) I really cant see it being any slower than the 991.2 GT3RS on the track and I believe it will be more reliable over the long term (although this is still a big unknown and something I conscious most of these threads are ignoring - weve been told the solid lifters require no maintenance and will go the distance - but will they? Been here already with the MA175/6!).

The 991.1 GT3RS is a more special car that is not in dispute. It has more bespoke components and its a fine looking machine. But if you take cars and coffee out of the equation, speculation and collectors, we are talking about a product for circulating the track here and in that regard the latest GT3 is almost always as good/fast/competent as the outgoing RS.

History repeats.

Sweet! Any details on that ducktail? Love your taste in cars, hope you hang on to that maritime 991.

However, you can twist it, dance around it, justify it anyway you want but this 991.2 GT3's power train is significantly better than the 991.1 RS', period. OK, bigger wing, carbon this, magnesium that, higher spec. suspension, etc. Still I have no doubt this new 3 is going to be significantly faster around the Nordschleife. I mean come on the new GTS is already nipping at the current RS' heels around this benchmark track

If they massage this .2 motor and hopefully put it into .2 RS, now that will be a very special RS!
Sorry but didn't find any "official" GTS laptime on NS. What was that time ?
As far as I know the RS time was 7.20 (driver unknown, not dry track)

I literally just dropped off my UV there a few hours ago. First time to see the place....EPIC.

To everyone else. I would have a hard time not feeling .....somewhat foolish or cheerleader-ish... by arguing why the 911r isn't as fun to drive as a 997.2RS 4.0 or the upcoming .2GT3... or the Viper ACR vs the regular Viper, or the GT350 vs the GT or GT350R..... and so on. Because I literally haven't driven any of them to know what makes them special and "worth their value".

If i did, I could then form my own tangible reviews for which is more desirable, but only to me. And I certainly wouldn't think I could predict the market for any given car in the future. Hindsight is 20/20 for people to list off market history as a basis for future values. I can't change the human nature of passionate opinions. But there honestly seems to be some people on here rooting for certain cars to "plummet" or fall in value as if that would make them feel better. Drive what you can get your hands on and be happy. We're starting to cannibalize our GT car common passions for being on these forums to begin with.

Totally understandable that owners want to protect "their" car! Happens on every board and is a bit silly in my mind. Look at the 997gt3 section. Same thing. Better to trash talk about someone's wife than to say anything negative about their car. 😂

RL is an enthusiast site, some of us are lucky enough to have driven all these cars over the years. Aircooled, 996gt3/RS 997gt3/RS 991gt3/RS gt350 vipers and so on.
They are all great in their own way.
