Two airbags go off, and all we know is a stop sign launch with TC off and hits a building. Curious minds want to know.
Not to mention, new tires on a car which haven't worn off the mold slickness as well. Maybe they make for good smoke when spinning? Free heat cycle break in no extra charge?
Too bad. From the looks of it, they seem like a capable shop. They seem to do alot of late model work. The 991 GT3RS is no 993 guys! Lots more power!!

I'd start advertising DIY TEST DRIVES on their door from now on. "We no longer offer that service".

Not even a 19yr old valet at a hotel or whatever.
So you entrust your car with a shop that supposedly specializes in high end SPORTS CAR MECHANICS and are supposed to take care of these machines, but beat the **** out of them instead. Can't imagine what they've been doing to other cars in their care.
Thanks for sharing your story here. I'm sure will be a help to others here and to also be cautious where you leave your car.
So, is there a chance you'll keep it if repairable? Did you spec the build yourself?

At a slightly different price point, I have a friend who owns a high end auto body shop with his dad. His dad bought a brand new mustang gt500 a few yrs back and before he took it on the road he wanted some of the known shortcomings, specifically the brakes and suspension, dealt with. He bought it at the ford dealer in RI well know in the 60s for their modified muscle cars. After the install a tech took it for a ride and promptly put it into a pole. Not totaled and already titled in his name they offered only to repair it. He took the cash and fixed it right and then had to sue the dealer to get paid for the loss of value. I don't remember what he got in the settlement but it covered the loss of value when he sold it plus little extra for brain damage. A PIA but he was made whole. Just multiply the numbers X5 and be tenacious.

No chance STG I'm keeping the car. Repairable, not repairable not going to deal with the brain damage, I won't ever think the car is right. The shop where it is at now to get damage estimate done is owned by a friend of mine and the only one in KC certified to work on Porsche. I gave him the details of what the problems are (diminished value fight, etc). My agent/insurance know what is coming, and again it's easier to fight with them to write me a check and let them chase the shop then the other way around. The owner is going to have to kick in some dollars as well, he is willing to do that and isn't fighting that notion. I did spec the car, I had a GT2 RS I sold to buy this and my boxster spyder. I'll find another one. I appreciate the input from the board, it's these times you want your head to explode and there was a tremendous amount of good advice and guidance. I hope I can be half as helpful going forward as you all have been here.

RK-D I just laughed my a$$ off, normalization of deviance..... nothing like mean reversion into a building.....classic.....Too bad it wasn't mean reversion on the owners car.

^looks like you have an analytical background - mean reversion, tail risk mentioned. Quite a rupture compared to what you expected, for sure - not surprisingly you are being very civilized about this whole process, despite the internal burning I am sure you are feeling. In the end it is a matter of getting to the right numbers, and I hope you get there soon. Nice to read your updates and I am sure all here are hoping for a good end for you.

br911, good call I run a quant fund (with fundamental overlays). I'm not the quant, not that smart I run the fundamental overlay portion which is just heuristics and biases judgement application, i.e. all the dumb decisions we make as humans, then rationalize it all away without understanding the odds. So in a weird way, the fact that someone decided to make an incredibly stupid decision, with no understanding of how bad the odds were (i.e. risk of loss was enormous, risk of gain was minimal) is confirmation of how I run my clients money. SMH. This board has been great, I'd have kicked the dog and my wife by now.

OP - I feel for you so much. I was at the stereo shop having my sat antenna fixed on my TT and they had a GT3 RS in there with 50 miles getting a radar setup done. They joked about wanting to drive it. While waiting I happen to read your post and showed them this post. They no longer have a desire to drive the car.
Best of luck

OP has the right attitude. **** happens. As long as he is made whole it's just life. I am not sure I would be as calm about it, but ultimately what can you do? Live and learn.

Ccapx, the RS is a beast. I personally wouldn't bother with a tune for sure. Messing with the ECU on a car like that isn't necessary in my opinion. Voids the warranty too. Why try to fix what's not broken? Probably better exhaust options too than FabSpeed if you must.
