Took my 911R in to install the Porsche Motorsport lithium ion battery. Originally, this option was offered when speccing the car, only to be told later by Porsche that they are having supplier issue and can't ship the cars with the lithium ion batteries.
Fortunately, PCNA made a note of all the customers who requested the lithium ion battery, and offered the lightweight batteries to those who still wanted one.
As you can see in the pictures, although the lithium ion battery is physically bigger than the standard 12V battery, it is much lighter (21.5kg vs. 8kg). Switching to the lithium ion saves a whopping 29.7lbs or 13.5kg!
What are the downside? Smaller battery reserve means if you are not driving the car everyday, you need to hook it up to a battery tender at all times. The operating temperature range of the lithium ion battery needs to be above -5C or below 45C (which is fine for me, as I live in SoCal).

At last, my 911R photo book has arrived from Germany! It took a bit of an effort to get Germany to agree to do the photo book without doing the European Delivery.
To be fair, they had good reasons. The car spend a lot of time at Porsche Exclusive with all of the CXXs and they needed to ship the car ASAP, as it was close to the end of the year. To do the photo book, they needed to:
- take off all the protective wrapping on the car
- wash the car
- move it into the Exclusive delivery center
- take pictures
- move it back to the factory floor
- redo all the protective wrapping and then ship if off
Obviously, I really appreciate all the effort they did on my R and I will be buying lots and lots of Porsches in the foreseeable future

Three Wheelin'
Congrats unotaz. From initial specification of the car, with all the CXX options, to the actual car, then the book for the icing on the cake!
What a spectacular 911R you have. Thus far the best I've read and seen here.
You probably will be as extensive with the details when the GT2RS arrives.
Drive safe,
GT3RS-Fan1

What a beauty! That's the kind of car you hold on to for a lifetime.
