720 there is no lag. 570, i did not like the lag as it was evident unless you kept the rpms high. That was one reason it took me a while to get into a 720. But after properly driving my buddies car- it sealed the deal. 720 no lag at all. Almost as good as Ferrari 488. Very close in fact.

I own a 488 and have driven a 720 (own a 675 LT). The 488 has less lag than a 720, which has less lag than the LT, however they all have some degree of it. It may not be obvious while driving, especially after becoming conditioned to the throttle response - but step into high compression NA car (Speciale, 812, RS) and you are quickly reminded by what zero lag truly is.

i own both a 488 and a 720 and the lag in both is imperceptible. Yes you might have a minuscule feel of it as compared to my RS, but it’s not relevant. The 12c and the 570 you feel it a lot more.

Agree it’s minuscule, particularly in the 488. While quite responsive at initial tip in, I can still feel the rush of torque increasing as the boost builds to peak pressure. This sensation is not present in any NA car. In any case, while in the minority, I actually prefer that turbocharged cars feel turbocharged - it’s part of their charm and creates extra drama during hard acceleration. I race a sports prototype that has massive amounts of turbo lag which I found annoying at first, but now find rewarding due to the degree of throttle anticipation required at corner exits. It feels like a full one second delay in tight hairpins.

Boost building up while accelerating and lag are two different things. Ferrari did a phenomenal job with the 488. the 720 is virtually as good. 12C and the 570 when I drove it were not nearly as lag free.

The 570 lag is about the same as it is on my 997 turbos. My 2009 is stock (last year of the 6 speed mezger), my 2007 is modded. Both have the same amount of lag as my 570, so it was totally expected. As in the turbos, all you have to do is downshift to get the car in the powerband and hit it. Then hold on.

Much easier in the 570 since it's a flick of the paddle.

I wonder if the 570 uses variable turbines or not???

For me Mclaren just pulled a Porsche card. Dealer I work with I have bought a Preformante and a Speciale from. So I put a deposit down August 2018 for a 600LT.

I requested some specific MSO options like a color they did for the 720S ( mephis red ), Sena seats, etc. Dealer said okay and sent it all in to Mclaren after I drug my feet for a while in early Nov.. Fast forward to last week, I ask for a quick update as I'm not in a rush and took my sweet time on getting them the build specs ( was told MSO options won't happen till end of build cycle so take your time ) but coupe production is ending and seeing when the car might be arriving maybe summer? Get told by dealer Mclaren was not accepting the build and would not do those MSO options for me since I was not a previous customer. So guess I can't be a Mclaren customer. I wasn't expecting this from them as they seem to be a company more willing to work with their customers, but in the end they are just the same old song and dance like the rest.

I think it's more that you can be a customer, but you cant yet make them push out their 600lt coupe build dates with a lot fo custom options given they don't know you...but you can definitely have a car.

Him and his recurring guest star Mika, for sure. Unfortunately, we haven't seen Mika drive in any of the videos yet; he merely supplies the cars.

Haven't driven this car yet - would love to . . . .but - after driving the 570 was definitely put off by the lag . . agree with him on that point.
