the turbo lag on the 570 is actually magnified by traction control. if you put the car in track/track and take ESC off then you can hoon the crap out of it (pro tip)

the doors are dihedral but the roof does come up (enzo, mclaren f1 style) to offer more entry ease

Way easier to get in and out of for taller guys. Almost like 2005 Ford GT - roof gone - and can step into car

Wow, that is one sexy looking Mclaren. Having owned the original 12C, I was never a fan of the 650S or the 570S (looks like Donald Duck), but I am digging the new 720S!!

Took a 570s testdrive today, in damp cold weather on summer tires on public roads. It drives like gocart, lighter on its feet than my 991 carrera. But also a bit more nervous over less than ideal road surfaces and in braking zones. It has a lot of power at bull boost, but not that it rips off your face, no strapped to a rocket feeling. Doesn't really matter, I'm not looking for a power rush or dragster type of experience.
Steering wheel is very communicative, allows you to steer the car inch perfect. Same with the throttle (allthough I don't know if that's still the case on track at the limit and with full boost coming off an apex), no digital feeling here.
Brakes were my least favorite part. They felt a bit woody to me, hard to modulate in daily traffic. Sometimes even like they weren't powerfull enough for the bhp of the engine.
Plus what struck me the most about them, it was hard for me to judge the off brake transition. That nervousness and difficulty to roll off the brake in a fluid manner may make it a tricky car to set nicely into a corner like I can with my 991.
But that's just first impression of a short test drive on public roads at sensible speeds. More use of the car, getting used to the inputs required, or using it on track may alter these first findings.
It is a gorgeous car though, has much more presence in real life than on pics or vids. Sound was good, bordering on very good, but not overwhelming, no wow factor like the 9000rpm redline of the 991 GT3 or 458 Italia.

In conclusion, I like it, maybe I even like it a lot, but my time with it was too short to really fall in love with it.

I do feel it might be a viable alternative to the GT3 if all goes south with that ...

agreed. I will say, however, that the design of the 720S looks like a ripoff of the 458. the lines are incredibly similar.

I think you might think that because of the side window profile but in real life no resemblance to a 458.

More McLaren F1 meets P1 meets huayra. It is original looking while still maintaining current McLaren DNA.

I don't see that at all. IMO, the 458 is a much more aesthetically pleasing car and the 720S is basically just McLaren styling taken to a more extreme level. Love it or hate it, it looks pure McLaren to me.

I saw the car at McLaren ball at Woking in December. We were given a few minutes preview, and it does look more coherent in the flesh, and there are a lot of aero and design intricacies that aren't picked up by the photos. Similar to an F1 car in that respect. Definitely a McLaren look and not a Ferrari one.
The aero was what the designers were most keen that we noticed. (To be fair, it was after midnight and after various drinks, so this is maybe not the most reliable report!)

What gorgeous cars, both 570 and 720. The only negative I can come up with (and I'm struggling here) is the rapid depreciation...which I'm not sure if it's not too different than other exotics. I will have one at some point.

There is no rapid depreciation of the 570 and 720 yet.

Looks almost the same from what I remember.
