wow, good read. Car has a lot more going on than I thought.
Still, for 225K I am putting a few more bucks down and getting a 720. There would still not be enough difference for me as a 12C owner to step up to a 675 to merit all that extra price. I was in a similar situation when I was offered a 650LM - not enough difference for the price.

Made this decision a few months ago and dollar for dollar i am a VERY happy camper. Really not sure what else gives this much of the exotic experience for where the pricing currently sits. CAlexio, happy to let you check it out next time you're at B Patisserie (my neighbor)!

The big differences on the 12C and 650 from the 675:
Brakes
Steering
Suspension
Ride height
Cool P1 seats
No sound insulation
Shoots fire
Noise
Build quality (this is before they hired the second or third shift that started with 570's)
Carbon bits
Visual appearance/ design
Sure the speed is all fast, and you can tune it. But you cannot make it the same.
You could buy a 125k car, spend 50k on it, and NOT have the handling or steering or visual dynamic. You'd have a faster 12C

My point was that for 125K you can have more than the bulk of 675 performance, that's all.

To your point, I believe this is what has contributed to the 675 depreciation. The 720 is so good that most would rather go in that direction. At some point I think the values will cross. I am patiently waiting for 7xx LT to be announced - I can only imagine how beastly that thing will be even for a kit car.

Ya in SF! You and your buddies were grabbing breakfast on motorcycles (a year ago) and I had just gotten back from a ride (cycling) through the headlands. We chatted for a bit before you guys boogied.

That is a really dumb statement from a guy like you, honestly. When you "tune" a 964 and get a Singer, do you still call it a 964?
Tuning and modding is really dependent on budget, and yes, absolutely you can tune an older car to exceed the performance of a new car or model in every way, shape or form.
I like tuning and modding cars. It's part of the fun for me.
675? Me ne frego. You'll understand the last part.

I think its totally fair to say that the "special" factor of a 675 vs a tuned 12C carries no weight with you. I think it's also reasonable to assume that for many, the special factor of the 675 (outside of any performance & aesthetic advantage CJ already outlined), is a very real thing that cant be replicated with after market upgrades.

But, no big deal. My general line of thought is that it's usually worth paying for the sportier version of a model, and it's not about speed, it's about all the individual components creating a whole driving experience which is greater than the sum of its parts. that's why a tuned 12c or whatever you were trying to say doesn't mean the same to me as a 675LT, it's not about the absolute speed, it's about all the bits carefully calibrated together which create such a superior driving experience. If you don't have the same needs and can skip the extra $125k that's great.. I often wish I were less picky too!
