But, the flaw I see in CJ's theory is that there isnt great upside to Salomondrin to do this intentionally. He would really only be getting the benefit of the markup he paid ($500k?) and that assumes he has coverage for the full purchase price. $500k is a lot of money, but not when you consider the consequences...wait, I forgot, criminals don't consider consequences (mind you, I am not saying salomondin is a criminal, dont know the guy and dont watch his videos).

Well if this is the case which we are NOT saying it is and for now speculation or conjecture as everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
If this is true on the negative side, then he is a master of "gaming" the system. I am curious what the deal here is. Even though McLaren drops in resale and not as reliable and dependable as our Porsches, I just find this car burned down to the ground in complete astonishment. McLaren has had no history whatsoever of any of their cars burning or catching fire, let alone one of their revered models.
He also said he "Paid over sticker" which means he went through a broker or middle man to acquire this hard to get car.

Of course it's not a scam! Yes he might get $1.5M from the insurance company (minus excess and his premiums will increase massively on all his cars until they get the money back). But on top of all of that of course he will have burnt down a car worth $1.5M. Only benefit is if somehow insurance company is going to pay out more than the value of the car, which I'm sure they won't.

The amount of unbased foul play accusations here is astonishing. Guy’s $1m+ car just burned to the ground.

The Ferrari rides a bit stiffer than the 600LT, but only slightly. The steering of both cars is incredibly precise and direct. I always felt the Speciale steering was better than anything I’ve ever felt, but the 600LT is the first car I’ve driven that I had a hard time telling any difference. The Speciale is more playful in its handling, being far more eager to get the rear end stepped out. The 600LT is more planted, but not as much as a GT3 Porsche.
Regarding gas pedal feel, it’s totally different. The 600LT has a very distinct turbocharged feel and power build up. While other cars like an AMG or 488 try to hide it, the 600LT fully embraces it.
Overall I do feel like I would still enjoy driving the Speciale more, but the 600LT is only slightly behind that on enjoyment but feels more capable. And for a near $100K discount I think that’s incredible.

He would never burn his car while being with his wife. It just seems that there's a lot of bad luck involved and I don't think McLaren would sell him another one at MSRP or at any price. I think he'll just receive his payout covering the adm he paid and move onto another car, probably not a Senna.
No sane person would pay 500k over on a car just to burn it when the outcome from the manufacturer is not guaranteed. He loved his Senna so much and actually drove it a lot in the days he had it. And then to risk his and his wife's lives if something were to go wrong while he's setting his car on fire, absolutely ridiculous.
His house was in the danger zone during these past CA fires and he didn't move any of his cars. Being out of the country, he just moved his family and dogs to a hotel somewhere safe with the cars at home. If they burn, they burn, that's why insurance exists.
We should be better than that...

Drove the 600LT over the holidays. All I can say is "WOW". I have driven a few Mclarens (650S, 688HS, 570s tuned to 750hp) and I have never been a fan. But this car is sooooo different. The power delivery, steering feel, sound, styling, and overall specialness - I can't get it out of my head. I'm still completely smitten. My goal will be to pick up a used convertible with Senna sets.
