I heard the 720s and 488 in person and the 720s sounded better imo.

488 sound is better than 720

Performance for the 720 speaks for itself, it's the fastest road car ever released without a seven figure price tag.

I'd like to see the GT2RS vs the 720S but keep in mind there will be a higher spec 720LT type and a 488 pista to fight eventually.
why doesn’t Mclaren ever ship a 720 to test with Trofeo R’s? Is it to show a greater performance difference when the LT variant comes out?

the 720s is stupid fast but let’s see it properly maxed out with the right tires.

I’d be surprised if a Pista can match a 720s on R compound tires never mind the LT variant.

Also surprised in the UK that used cars are popping up discounted already.

The new tire is faster than the 2016 model Trofeo R.

The 720S's real advantage is ride quality which it has in spades over the 675LT. The LT is more edgy and has a harder limit to the tire and suspension which makes it feel more like a race car. The 720 has a smoother approach the the limit and is way more confidence inspiring.

Jim the 720S is made to order and is totally incredible. Personally I think the separator is the ability to spec exactly the color and options you want and there are no paint to sample games.

Msrp is the price unless you are trying to get one tomorrow then it's all about available cars.

Interesting about the tires. With that said, McLaren did tell MotorTrend they'll send a 720 with Trofeo R's in the future for a retest at Big Willow so hopefully we'll know soon.

Top Gear just had Harris do a 720 vs P1 at Portimao (where he did the holy trinity test a few years back). The 720 was within 0.5 sec of the lap time. Not sure what tires were used on both cars.

It seems like McLaren has really hit their stride with the 570 and 720. Great job to them!

The 720 was definitely on the new pirelli corsa tyre. Not sure about the P1 but Harris tested both the trofeo and corsa (old) on the P1 when still doing his youtube stuff and the top gear P1 time was much closer the corsa time..

The bubble of the last ~5 years is just that it is not normal, cars depreciate and expensive cars will always lose lots of money pay to play etc. Ferrari may be able to maintain their model and control supply to keep residuals high but current Porsche GT nonsense will go pop for sure and Mclaren will depreciate like normal cars unless supply is restricted which it shows no sign of being.
I think in the UK Mclaren has been dragged along by this bubble effect which has influenced people's expectations, it seems a lot of people bought the 675LT expecting to make money as with other marques limited edition models but there are currently 31 used 675s for sale with the majority available under list.
I personally expect my new £245K 720S to be worth around £150K in two years time with 15000 on the clock which is about 22% depreciation pa.

Yes. And the new Trofeo developed for the Senna will be super duper stupid fast. The Bespoke Tire.

This new Corsa is soft enough to grip up and they are finally going slightly wider rear tires (still not as wide as porsche does)

Ok interesting that.

the 720 rear is still a 305/30/20 though? it's only the front that is a bit wider at 245 than the P11s.

This seems like a pretty interesting program. Might be a good way to find out what this Macca thing is all about now that Porsche no longer wants to sell us cars....

I am a future customer in the next 2 years. CJ a year ago you were great to meet in Phoenix in person while your shoulder was healing and you just bought Scottsdale. I will be your first Oklahoma customer since we have have several (4) in Tulsa from Dallas. If you treat them well, I could send business your way.
