I saw the Glickenhaus race in person. I only saw it from a distance, didn't see it up close unfortunately. I think it was a German race team racing in Belgium, not sure. Anyhow, loved it. I like diversity. It added some spice to the grid lineup ! I hope they keep up the development and keep racing ! Well done to SCG !

This is just unnecessarily ugly in my view. Trying to rationalise it is like the emperor’s new clothes. All the forums the pattern is the same. The initial and overwhelming reaction is that this car is just plain ugly, with a few McLaren die-hards stoutly defending it and subsequently others trying to soften their opinion and justify it on the basis of “a company like McLaren must know what they’re doing surely?”.
The argument seems to be that such ugliness is justifiable because they are pushing the aero envelope and laptime is the only important thing for this car. However I believe this argument unravels because the truth is that they have delivered a ‘no limitations’ aero car, limited by their carbon tub. It’s why the Valkyrie is even more aggressive in aero terms - and more expensive. It is totally bespoke.
So the Senna is a car designed to push the aero/chassis as far as it can, given the constraints of price and McLaren’s existing roadcar-biased architecture. Which immediately begs the question, what is the point of not sacrificing a few more tenths to make the car much more desirable?

So, basically, the car doesn't make sense. They focused on performance without proper regard for aesthetics, but its performance is compromised anyway by the car being street-legal. And even then, like most other modern sports cars, the car is too fast for proper enjoyment on the road anyway.
So now you have a car that's too fast on the road, not the fastest thing that can run on track, and somewhat ugly to boot. Oh, and it's very expensive. With the P1 and 918, at least we can say they look good.

But, you go ahead with your little hash tags and vindicated sarcasm.

This might be the last ultimate combustion engine-only hypercar in the history of mankind. It will go down in history as the stuff of legends. It's only fitting that they named it after the greatest driver.

Could McLaren RLers give me opinions please.
I have picked up a 570S and am really enjoying it but because it is so good I am lured by the top of the (non Ltd edition) food chain the 720S.
Taking price out of the equation is the 720 a big step up, obviously it is quicker but is it as delicate and as much fun as the 570 ?
TIA

720s is much easier to get in and out of, has the best visibility of any mclaren car and is a fairly soft ride. It really comes alive on track. Essentially, it is a passing machine. So much faster then other cars in its price range.
I haven't heard of one person being disappointed going from a 570 to a 720.

I have a 720s, 991 gt3rs and I know plenty of people with 570's.

Does anyone else think the 720S should have been the 720GT? It's obviously ridiculously quick but with everything reviewers/owners have said about it I get the feeling it's so refined they could call it a GT, then do a ruder S and finally a bonkers LT.

I don’t care for the looks of the McLaren’s. Even the 675 LT doesn’t really do it for me aesthetically. But I respect the tech and appreciate the competitive pressure McLaren brings to the table. I think we all win from it.
Maybe one day i will fall in love with one. Who knows. I didn’t care for the 991.1 GT3 looks-wise (preferred the 997 aesthetically) but totally changed my mind. Now i think it is the 2nd best looking (only to the 997 RS 4.0).

I just got my 570gt and can’t wait till winter ends. I imagine the 720s will be phenomenal but the 570 already has more power than you need in a street car where do you drive a 720?!?
