.2 GT3 even if a 4.0L is likely close to .1 RS power levels

Once we have the cam wear issue resolved, then modding the 991.1 internally for power becomes much more reasonable. To mod an engine internally for power knowing it's eating itself isn't a great idea...

Had to cancel the meeting last week, key guys had the flu... (stupid flu).

But the logger is coming together nicely and we're really excited about what we'll be able to do with it.

1. Small black box with SD card storage, connects to OBDII port or direct wire into the CAN wires
2. Firmware upgradeable to open different or additional logging packages
3. Output for existing dashes or other track logging (AIM, Vbox, etc.)
4. Optional small dash for keeping your eye on logged parameters (not necessary, but pretty slick)

The first firmware will be for crank case pressure monitoring.
The next firmware will be a "track pack" with wheel speeds, brake pressures, transmission temp, engine temp, oil pressures, ride height sensors (shock potentiometers) etc... for the track guys. You would send this data into your favorite track logging stuff (I use vBox) and will add a number of channels to look at to improve driver setup (brake application and application pressure for example) and car setup (individual corner ride height for suspension setup, aero work etc...).

Very exciting stuff, just not enough hours in the day!

That's whp. So thinking 550 at the crank might not be outrageous, given heads and cam on top of it. Could be wrong!
I guess it's possible - just seems almost too good to be true. I'm not in a position to judge. I wonder how much we would benefit in the thin air up here?

You had to bring that up.

Let's say the GT3 puts out 475 hp at sea level. Lets subtract 85 hp for our altitude. Now we are at 390. Throw in these mods and say we get 60 hp back, which is 45 hp for us. So we get half the power loss back. The numbers are rough, but in the ballpark.

That's correct the 991 GT3 starts at 400whp, add 30 whp to peak (the 40 whp is max gains before peak power) with just race headers. Tune gets you another 10-12 across the board. This puts you at 42 peak or so, so 442 wheel.

Loss on our dyno is about 14%, so 442/.86 = 514bhp

514/3.8L is 135hp/L

Cams and reworking the heads will get us a bit more for sure..

But the priority is to get this engine on solid footing for longevity!

Gotcha. Will be interesting to see final results.

Exactly. It just makes it a bit nicer knowing work and money are also helping to generate more power at the same time. I need to eventually sell this to the wife/boss!

Don't sell your 991.1's yet, they'll be even better shortly...

Quick update:
Logger is being tested over the weekend, we added some features, will test the crankcase pressure this coming week.

Revised Finger Follower design is finalized.

Couple of key points, each finger will have an oil squirter for the cam/finger interface
Lash (distance between the cam and finger) will be controlled independent of oil pressure.
Should have a timeline for the first prototype parts in 7-10 days.

Logger we had to revise some items for future fast logging, going to be testing it again this weekend!

The new finger follower design is being made. I'll get an update first part of next week on progress, should be getting pretty close!
