I'm not the best guy to answer, but this is what I know. With the mclaren f1, they used gold lining to reduce heat in the engine bay, it was one of the wonder-bits which journalists would talk about to explain the price. With time this became a bit of mclaren f1 legend.. and I believe today they turned it into an actual branding piece/brand attribute. So.. you can now order gold lining in your mclaren as a hefty optional bling piece, under the presumption that it keeps your engine bay cooler. It definitely looks the ****, except that in a mclaren today you can't lift the hood.. in this owners p1 for example you can't even see the engine.. the 675LT seems to show more of the engine bay, so the gold makes some aesthetic sense... all I can say is that if gold lining is ok, then so are PCCB's on Porsche justified exclusively just to make your car prettier :-)

I'll ask the owner if we can take some closer shots to share when we drive soon. To me the 675LT is the best mclaren made.. all the power you'll ever need, without the heavy hybrid system.. having spent a week in both, I would venture to say it's probably the best performance car out there today... and that shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings as everyone I know who has a p1, also has a 675LT :-)

Thank you for the little bits of info Alex. I actually now remember about the gold used in the f1.

Someone did another one of these and got his own video replete with dream-like ethereal music at mclaren BH.. $840k.. more than half of car price in options, or in other words, he could have bought a second 675LT Spyder carbon for just the price of options on this example. Oooooooooooweeeee!

Pretty impressive project. I wonder if CJ has any stories similar to this? Thank you Alex.
