The "LIST"
Bought my first GT3(used) this year from one dealer and an RS(new) from another.
Both dealers have said they have put me on the list for the next GT3.
Should I be able to order the 991.2 GT3 as soon as its announced? Or am I gonna be waiting a year as ive heard from some friends. I expect more from the dealer I bought the Rs from. Thoughts? Thank you!

Ryan ,
from my experience , one places an order with a deposit when a dealer will take a deposit ( but it's just paper till ) ,when your turn comes for an allocation given to you from the dealer, then you order your specific build generating a "commission " number and a car with your name on it.
in short it's all about getting that coveted allocation that generates your commission number .
Best to stay tight with your team .

putting you on a list means nothing
its at best a sheet of paper in a drawer somewhere
dealer get allocations according to business statistic and estimated demand
most dealer give the their slots to their best customers and if some allocations are left
then to the ones who come into the dealership ready to sign once the car is configurable
if any are left THEN they might call people from the "list" or from the drawer :-)
but on the other hand porsche usually builds as many cars of the unlimited runs as they can and usually they will satisfy demand completely
they did with the gt3 991.1 even though it had a short run and they certainly did with the 991.1 RS which was build 8000+ times according to my friend at porsche
the only thing is you might get one later or much later but if you are interested, show up at a dealership in March once its revealed and you have a history of buying at least one car before with them then i would most certainly assure you that you will get one, i cant tell you when that might be though :-)

Where are you getting that number? That sounds way high, like 2x high. I thought the U.S. got less than 1,500. If Porsche produced 8,000 of them, where are they being sold?

I trust him 100%
He has never lied to me and I don't see why he would have this time
Also I can tell you that there are well over 100 991.1 gt3 RS for sale right now in Germany
some for less than sticker
Third data point: my dealer sold way more RS than normal gt3 and he has still one more coming in December
He told me they made as many as they could sell this time
All in all I believe my friend and the other data points I see seem to support this
PS the US seem to have gotten 1500 so far but they are still pouring in
December was a huge month in terms of production
Where do they go?
Asia took way more than last time
Europe was huge
Middle East
Australia
South America
Canada

It is better to be on a list than not. Being on the list does not guarantee anything but it's worked for me on a couple of occasions. I had to wait but it was worth the wait to get an orderable allocation.

Fellas u are right I never owned a Porsche.
But I jumped on a list the dealer says I'm number 3.
Don't know if it's BS .
I see it this way I have time...and not in a rush.
So if it's possible to get one I will buy a car I can configure.
Iam not worried if I don't get one.

^if you never owned a porsche, the chance of you getting a GT3 at msrp nis about zero, unless econ tanks.
on the list has almost no meaning.
i am on 991R list
and just about ANY AND EVERY LIST
when you are up, they will tell you, oh, it's msrp +x
in fact, my freind was ahead of me at MSRP. i got the call, he didn't.
the caller told me if i pay 50+ it's mine.
needless to say i call my buddy and he was pissed.
so LIST... it about as real as santa clause.
a few dealers are honest.
most are not
