991.2 GTS, GT3, GT2, GT3 RS, Mission E - Update
 

Hey Everybody,
i dont post a lot, shame on me but i do read from time to time. Usually when i am in the market to buy a new car.
I had a GT3 for almost a year (2015) but sold it because it was the only car i had back then and for that it was a bit too extreme and not winter friendly enough either. But i missed it greatly so now i am looking at buying one again, this time as a second car. So i went to my local dealer in Germany which usually has very good knowledge about upcoming cars. I thought i share what he had to say:

GTS to come out this year with 450 hp

GT3 configurable in January, 495 hp, manual option, not definite on the wing delete and surprisingly on the motor, its between a 4.0 or a 4.2! definitely not 3.8
4.2 would be detuned for the GT3 and then full potential for the coming RS. Apparently the GTS is going to be so fast they have to move up in torque, hence he thinks its going to be a 4.2 but he is not sure, he is only sure on no 3.8l

GT2 coming towards the end of 2017

GT3 RS 2018 first half

Mission E coming in 2019 with 3 configurations. 500-700km on one charge depending on the battery pack you choose and 400-600 hp options
starting at 130.000 Euro/$ for the 400hp and 500km version

as a side note: there is a Panamera Turbo Hybrid coming in March 2017 with 680 hp if anyone is interested in that, i am not :-)

in terms of availability of the GT3 he said: we have 30 reservations already in his dealership for one but to be honest, he said, i don't even put them into the system. We will allocate to customers who bought a lot of cars with us before first and if we have allocations left THEN we go down the list of people who put in a reservation request but didn't do business before. I just mention this because i read on the forum somewhere that people put there name down at 3-4 different dealers and hope to get a car. Best way to get one is still to have a relationship and a history of buying a few cars before. At least if you want to configure it yourself and don't want to buy with a markup.

Thanks for your post. Interesting to hear what your dealer is saying. However there is lots of good intel saying .2 gt3 will be 4.0, so 4.2 sounds far fetched to me. Also do you mean gt2 or gt2rs?

I agree 4.2 is far fetched but he insisted its a possibility and he heard it being discussed

GT2RS

My sources (unnamed) indicate:

.2 GT3 is a 4.0. Manual option. Hp and Torque just shy of RS. Delivery's fal 2017.

.2 GT2/RS? reveal late 2017 early 2018 with delivery available in late 2018 for 2019 model year.

.2 GT3RS reveal spring 2019 available late 2019 for 2020. Told will be NA but still don't buy it and think its a PAG head fake becuase by that time it will have to be TT to keep up with the public market competition. They may stay NA for World Challenge/FIA etc with the help of BOP regulations but I still think their public consumption cars will be TT. Compeition is becoming overwhelming: AMG GT-R, Macs, 488, New ZR1, Nissan GTR, BMW M4s. Even within their own family the Porsche Carrera S and GTS are TT now nipping at the GT3 NA heels.

Also, fwiw, a GTS with that kind of power/torque, slicks and a good driver, will have many a .1/3 owners giving that gent a point by at a DE events. The slicks even up the differences between the two cars.

WOWZERS......way to many models to update in one thread. My brain just exploded I'm out

GT3/RS does NOT have to go turbo, they have cars to compete with those, its callled a GT2/RS and a TT/S. Even automotive publications know this and is making the shift. Not sure why this is so hard for people to understand. The market clearly shows demand for NA and they will keep producing them. Porsche will keep producing NA homologation cars as they are still committed to NA motors for customer racing programs, as they are exponentially less expensive to own and operate, especially in endurance settings. They aren't going away anytime soon. It's that simple.

People need to start understanding that just like way back in the early 996 gt3 days, there was no direct comparing cars.....we are once again heading in that direction. No direct peers for the gt3/rs and its fine. Great in fact. Porsche sees the vacuum and is filling it.

The real question is if manual will be offered for gt2/rs and gt3rs ?

What I can't completely understand is how can you configure a car in January when Porsche will not unveil the car until March?

Good point... Perhaps anyone who got a GT4 may know if this is possible? Was the GT4 Configurable before it was unveiled by Porsche?
