How to get a GT2 RS in Canada?
So I was #3 for a GT2 RS at a US dealer who is known to honor lists and MSPRs, but then I moved to Canada and thought I did not need GT2/GT3 anyway because I was contemplating switching to a dedicated track car + Turbo + garage queen exotic, so I foolishly took my deposits back.
Anyway, I after thinking things through, I realized I made a mistake and that I need GT2 RS to complete my garage. Let me explain.
My plan was to have a family hauler (Cayenne/Panamera Turbo), a dedicated track/race car (now a GT3 but eventually something not road legal, possibly shared), a daily (Turbo S) and a weekend cruiser/exotic. Now, I looked at many possible candidates for the latter spot, and the only one I really liked was 675LT. But I think I'd prefer GT2 RS to it. It's just more in line with my values and personality.
Now, how do I get one in Canada? Everyone says it's supposed to be easy, but I'm not sure what exactly that means. Getting the GT3 was easy - I just called with my CC number and then picked up my car 20 months later @ MSRP and exactly the way I wanted it (with free engine replacement(s?) as a bonus!)
In Canada, my local dealers would not even take my deposit. One just promised to call back at some point and the other described the list pecking order - first 918s, then those who trade in GT cars, then those who trade in other new Porsche cars and top loyal customers, and then those with deposit, if they get anything at all. Does not make sense to leave a deposit there for sure...
Options I see:
1. Become a loyal customer and/or trade in my GT3 locally. I am planning to order 991.2 Turbo S and either Panamera TT Wagon or the new gen Cayenne TT next year - that could signal I'm not joking around. And I have a GT3 I could trade in - I will not need it anyway. But if I get hosed on trade in and have to pay MSPR on both Turbo S and Panamera, that's a lot of money that could be saved - likely more than current premiums on RS.
2. Do the same thing as above, but not locally. I'm hearing that non-Vancouver dealers are much easier to deal with due to lower demand everywhere else in Canada. This is confirmed by how much off MSRP I can get from non-local dealers on new Turbo and Panamera as opposed to nill locally. But there is a drawback on not being local - not sure how much that matters.
3. Do not try to connect the purchases in any way - just get the best deal I can on the cars I want to buy and sell, and then get the GT2 RS aftermarket with whatever mark up there is. Logically, this seems to be the best option because it saves my time and leaves more options open. But on the other hand, there is a good chance it turns out to be more expensive than other options, and I know I will be less happy about the car if I get it for much more $ than other people. It's irrational and stupid, I know, but I know myself too well.

Max what is your residence status, could you have a US registered car in Canada, say one that goes south twice a year.....My buddy lives in Victoria and has all his cars registered in Washington never a problem. He is a US citizen.

Thanks, guys. I'm a Canadian citizen and prefer to have a car registered in Canada. But buying from the US is not a problem - done that before. Taxes bite but it's easy otherwise.
I spoke with SSTHO when I wanted the GT3RS the first time, so he made some intros. I'll ask for his advice again - that's a good idea.

Well, I want one and do not mind paying a reasonable premium and/or trading in a car. I'm still not sure I'll get my hands on one. I'll try out-of -town dealers, I guess.

2 weeks ago I had a call with my SA and he explained it would be difficult to obtain a "potential" GT2RS allocation without a relationship. If I were you, I would get on any list you can and wait.

Listen MaxLTV, Here is the ONLY way for you to get a GT2RS in Canada.
1: Get a time Machine
2: Go back to 2014 to buy a 918.
3: You will get your GT2RS in 2018
