If replacing the the GT4, then do it with a .2 GT3 manual or pdk or get an RS (any version).

My comments are entirely based on my unashamed bias to have you continue to attend the Smokies GT events!

You are not getting rid of me that easily. I left the GT car fold once and won't make that mistake again!

Why not add Merc GT-S or a Z06 to your list. The Merc I'd go for between those two but since you are not tracking, the Z06 with manual would definitely fit your needs since you don't mind American cars. Another one is the Jaguar F type R.

Tasman,

Agree on selling both gt4 and gt350 to add 997rs. It's a fun semi-classic that you always want to keep.

Why don't you buy fellow Smoky Jon Bakers 997.2 GT3? I'm sure he'd work out a pretty good deal for you.

And agree, you gotta keep a GT car in the stable.. at least 1!

964 RS cars are just turning 25 years old. Fairly easy to import. No DEQ not much of anything to do to the cars.

Good cars = $300+
driver quality cars= $200+

it will I'll be interesting to see how many make it to the US.

I have one almoat on the boat and one that won't be ready until July.

964 RS are brilliant cars. The most joyful Porsche experience of my life just short of a 993 RSR on the track.
If you ever get the chance to drive one, drive with caution. The RS bug is hard to kick.

570s/650/12c have dealership proximity issues based on your location, for sure, and major depreciation issues...front clearance also an issue for daily use on 650's, not so much the others, esp without front lift

turbo lag in them is there, but the idle forum chatter is much more extreme than the reality of 'the problem' in my opinion... on the road, you want 'go', you click paddle. power is right there...not sure different than being in high gear in n.a. car... you need to downshift to get into meaty zone - on track, yes throttle sensitivity somewhat less linear... but after you learn the car you manage it fine

r8 well built but boring dynamics... though original one still looks very very cool to me

458 still very exciting, though may be quite expensive to own (despite purported newfound reliability) after they are out of warranty and two years of purchased extension...

I have two friends with a 997.2 RS. It is a great car. Add a SW center bypass for sound effects. I find the .2RS a comfortable car to drive on the street. On track they are major fun. I've had the opportunity to drive one on Mid-Ohio, Putnam Park and Road America and it's an experience I won't forget.

Good luck with your hunt. If you find a lead anywhere in the Cincinnati/Columbus area I'd be happy to take a look for you.

See you in the spring.

I have 2 suggestions

1) Keep GT4 and GT350 and add the new McLaren (the model that just won MotorTrend driver's car 570S I think?)

2) (What I would do) - Sell GT4 and pair a 997 GT3RS with the GT350 and call it day.

I had a 2015 GT3 and I have to say it was the best car I have ever owned from a driving perspective. However, I was not happy with the smoky start ups almost every single time. Took 30 minutes for it to air out. So I traded in for a Huracan. Its not as precise as the GT3 and the form follows function philosophy of Porsche is why I collect the brand. However, the sound and the raw power of the Huracan is far more intoxicating the GT3. And I love the fact that I am not embarrassed everytime I start the car. I really worry about Porsche's engineering when I think of IMS/RMS and now GT3 engine issues. Will the 4.0 improve...I don't know. I love Porsche which is why there are 6 in my stable but are they pushing limits. With that said, I am still on the waitlist for .2 GT3, RS, and Mission E. Finally, I kind of agree with the consensus on the 997 GT3RS. Its probably the last of the real driver cars unless you can get your hands on a R. Good Luck with whatever direction you take but make sure its your direction and no one elses.
