As per earlier post, numbers XXX/991 on the dashboard are not production sequential. My lock date was only 3 weeks ago and my number is in the 200s

The VIN are certainly "almost" production sequential, the dashboard's numbers are not at all.
Cars numbers 989 and 990 have already been delivered, by example.

I say "almost" because a car will a lot of exclusive options will of course be delivered later than a "regular" car.

It appears the VINs are not entirely sequential either, at least in North America. There is a bit of jumping around back and forth, although there is a general arc to a monotonic order.

The limitation number on the dash is not sequential. It just happens to go from 1 to 991.

The VIN number ARE sequential for the production slot. But an earlier built car could have spend some time in the workshop for customization while a later production car get shipped out first. A CXX car with simple customization might stay in the workshop for a couple days, while a highly customized car might spend 3 weeks there.

Car's built date (i.e. VIN number) and delivery date has little to no correlation for the R, just like the 918s.

Owners got to pick their plaque number, especially 918 guys so they could have matching serial numbers.

Quite a few R's being immediately flipped for attempted profit.. hovering around $500k asking. I don't see people biting at anywhere close to that, especially with the 991.2 GT3 coming in as broadly the same car, but maybe I'm naive.

This CXX thing is interesting. I begged and pleaded to get some great script on my sills but was shut down. Then you see stuff like this. I'm sure who you are still matters...

Even though the owner has every right to sell, I can't help but feel slightly sad about this one. 😢

Well done Porsche, great choice of customers, not only an R but PTS nonetheless!
