Default New mid engine RSR testing video

Porsche is calling it "rear-mid engined", whatever that means...

here's a video of it testing:

I'm not a fan of GT cars that stray so far from the design of the road car offerings, but still hoping Porsche will be more competitive with the new car.

Does the wheelbase look a little longer to anyone else? And is that a diffuser I see?

So we're likely talking about a 991 GT1 (a la 993 and 996 GT1) where the engine has moved forward and it's potentially turbocharged?

Is it a turbo? Sounds like a 6 in the video.

Might as well turbo it - seems like many of the others are. I'm a bit out of the loop admittedly, but I was surprised to find that the BMWs and Ferraris (in addition to others) were turbocharged when I went to the Lime Rock race this past summer.

Sounds like a turbo. Has turbo inlet...but I'm getting mixed messages from elsewhere.

Dan, was the car louder than a standard Cup? If it's a turbo and it's muffled enough they may not need to run two different exhaust configurations for IMSA and the WEC.

It actually sounds like they've reverted back to the 996 RSR exhaust set-up with one straight pipe coming off each side of the engine. I'm not sure why they moved away from that in the first place. Perhaps someone can fill me in. Anyway, I'm sure it's all functional!

Looking more like an Aston Martin to me but definitely not sounding like one. Sounds like turbo 6.
