6 to 8 weeks isn't a problem - just took out a 991 last night that hadn't been touched for a couple of months without being on a charger.

Thank you for the response

I have the lightweight battery (Lithium-Ion).

All the Porsche, Ctek, battery tender plus, are all automatic. Hook it up and forget it. I have about 15 of them plugged in around garage/warehouses and they are great.

Turns out it was not charging at all and local Porsche Centre updated software that allowed charging (via cig socket). They mentioned there was a campaign notice on this but it would have been better to have been told by Porsche before the battery failed.
Thanks for sharing. I informed my local OPC of the issue, of which they were not aware. They verified it, but said they could not address it. Will have them change it next time the car goes in.

Wish they were more proactive and up-to-date with such issues.

I had no idea there was an outlet in the passenger footwell!?

Guess I need to let someone else drive once in a while so I can see what's in this car!

never owned a charger.
i only drive them once every 6 weeks, and 200 miles each time.
i get new and the LARGEST HEAVIEST battery that will fit, every three years
i do not have the time nor the patience to fiddle around with charger.
if i can't get the car out on the road in 3 min, the car will be sold.

No charger here and the car barely gets driven every other week if I'm lucky in the winter. Nice dog...

Like your approach. But once had to leave my 997.1GT3 CS (which have the lighter battery) in a very cold garage for a couple of weeks. Was empty when I came back and then had to work my way through a completely ridiculous procedure to be able to charge it up again. Battery had to be replaced of as well. So now better safe than sorry.

Ryan the charger that you showed picture original post is the standard charger.

As someone else in this thread there is a charger approved for Porsche Lithium.

It looks the same, it just has an extra "Li-io" text next to the icons.
