Which one...New GT 4 or 2000 mile GT 3

Trackdays it would have to be GT3. For backroads both are great but I would pick GT4 or better yet Spyder, especially if the turns are super tight and lanes are very narrow. If the backroad is not super tight then it will be hard to decide. Mark

Both special in their own way. GT3 is clearly the " better " car because of its special engine. For mostly street use the 4 is far easier to drive . The PDK in city or suburb driving is a PIA. In auto non sport it goes to 5th gear at 35 mph. In auto sport way to aggressive around town. Thus manually shifting it is necessary and fun but can become a chore.
GT 4 is pure driving pleasure in all situations and will harass a 3 on track everywhere but corner exit and straight lines.

manually shifting is at once a chore and a pleasure?

They are both great cars and both Special in their own right. Wow!!!-did Porsche hit a home run on all (3) GT models.
I would like all of them but if it were (2) it would be GT3/GT4. The reason the GT3 over RS is I just think it is the prettier of the two and I do not track so do not need to have the "best". The RS is not a good looking car. It does look the business and has an overwhelming presence but I guess you can see the beauty in that

I once had a blonde girlfriend which I've loved but my mother didn't like her. I dumped her and got a brunette, which my mother liked. She said : " son, she's the one! ". It turned out she was a psycho. I then said I can never rely on what others think, including my mother and I'd have to make my own important decisions. Ideally I would've kept the blonde and a normal brunette...perhaps a redhead for diversity...all at once...but you know how that turned out...
So if you got to test both, but can only keep one, there's nobody who can provide a better answer than you.

Yeah Porsche did a number on the GT4 to keep it that way. Fun tapping into the hidden potential though, it's definitely there haha.
As an owner of both and also own 2016 Spyder, the GT3 is the better car, and especially on track or Autocross. However I personally prefer driving the GT4 or better yet the Spyder on the street over the GT3, because they feel so great on the road and especially with a Manual transmission. GT4 feels lighter and smaller on the road, and Spyder tops that.
I own 6 porsches, and I go through a vicious mental cycle all the time deciding which one I like best or keep as my only Porsche. After driving GT4 or better yet the Spyder for a while, I tell myself if I have to get rid of all my Porsches and only keep one, it would have to be the Spyder with GT4 being close second. Then I get back into my GT3 and drive it and all of the speculation or doubt disappears. This is an amazing machine and I would never give it up. Something about that GT3 engine & its sophisticated suspension, that is so special. Then cycle repeats again after I get back into the GT4 or the Spyder.
So not sure if I am the right guy to give you advice on this except tell you that both are special machines and you can't go wrong owning any of them but my recommendation is to own both!!! Mark

Once again. Thanks guys. I have been on a lot of forums the past few years and I have to say that the vibrancy on this forum is unmatched in my experience. Porsche cars brought me back but lingering on here and listening to you guys exchange about your cars pulled me back as well. I'm tied up with work stuff right now but I'll post some pics of my sweet white GT 3 in a few days. I'm excited to show her off.
