OT: Carcoon storage bubble
Hi Guys ,
I wondered if anyone had experience with the ''Carcoon '' storage hut for indoor use ? Specifically I'm looking at their ''Veloce'' model with zip out sides . I have good storage , but here in New England deer mice are always an issue and I'd like to park the RS ( taking winter delivery ) until spring w/o having to think of mice getting in the car . Any and all input welcomed . Years ago when the 944 was new I had a friend buy one of those '' auto sock '' things and mice chewed through it and had a field day in the car while my buddy thought it was safe over the winter . These Carcoons allow you to see the vehicle and have air circulation as well to control the humidity inside . Not cheap at around $1500 , but would be cheap insurance if they do what they say w/o fear of mice chewing through .
Thanks,
Bryan

Mice often get in a garage through the sides of the garage door. An easy solution is to install some 18 ga sheet metal right at the gap to the concrete curb. Before I did this I would always have chipmunks and mice in the garage. I'm going on two years without one in sight or trapped. Best $10 and 2 hours time I've spent on the garage!

Mouse traps with peanut butter as bait in each corner of the garage door

Those damn critters find their way in places I can't believe. One year, found a young mouse dead lying on the edge of the battery tray in my C4S. Now I use mouse bait everywhere in the garage especially under the car on the floor, near the tires. So far so good. Those bubble carcoons look interesting.

You could probably do something similar with thick plastic (heck, 2 layers), then drive over the top. Have concrete blocks or saw horses, pull it up all around and attach it. Nearly all critters find their way along the ground and walls. Obviously, traps as well, especially if you check on it regularly.
Haven't used the Carcoon, but looks simple.

Why won't the mice chew through it? I found a dead mouse in my glove box of my Ram 2500 a month ago. They seem to always find a way in.

I have about a dozen of them that are used in my warehouse for longest-term storage. Been in use since 2013 without a single issue. Make sure that you order additional sets of the filters, which need to be changed every year, two max. They're maintenance free other than this and basically foolproof.

Highly recommended. The best part being they're a two-in one: a car cover and a trickle charger. I have them in a semi-enclosed area and they work very well.
You do want to keep them powered 24x7 coz the top droops down and gathers dust otherwise. You can also fashion some PVC tubes to add to the skeleton and "hold" that roof up without power.
