Bought it for the wrong reasons, then. I've had mine since 2013 and still love it Not the latest, not the greatest, not the prettiest, but damn near the fastest Still

If you've got to keep up with the Joneses it's a never ending source of anxiety

I don't necessarily think he was trying to keep up with the Jonesses, but you have to admit that they replaced and added models in rapid succession. This greatly hurt resale values. He paid $200K for a car with a $275K sticker less than a year from new. That's scary depreciation regardless of make or model.

Resale only matters if you're selling and if you like it why would you sell? Unless you are looking to have zero depreciation and get the latest and greatest every year. Good luck with that. My car has suffered 100% depreciation just like all of my cars

Because many people not including you keep cars for a few years and then sell them and buy something else. I don't care how well off someone is, they would not give away their car for free every few years. That's not a rational thought. My point is that McLaren released many new models on the same or similar platform one after the other, pissing people off. I know you're ok with that because you intend to keep your car forever. I get it.

Not keeping forever but actually with exotic cars, you really need to figure something on the order of 20 to 30% depreciation over two years and more like 40% over three. I keep my cars longer because I don't have the means to spend that kind of Jack every three years. Not forever, but more like 5 to 10 years on the big ticket items. I am figuring into that actually driving the cars, because I daily drive my cars in rotation so they are not garage queens hat I sell 2000 miles on the clock.

But onto the topic at hand, I have driven the 570s on track and I could swear it was faster than the 650 that I drove back to back we were not taking lap times, but indicated speeds in to brake zones were higher in the 570

12c best in volcano red (like mine )
650/675 best in white
570 in grey or black... side panel design unfortunate to my eye, best hidden

brake feel and turbo laggy down low are mclaren weaknesses but chassis and sense of lightness/rigidity are great great strengths
458/488 controls tweaked to feel more alive at low speeds, more artful in design (exteriors at least) imo

CJ - As someone that spends a lot of time around them, what are your top 3 colors on the 570S?

It is an interesting car as its the rare one in this price bracket purposely equipped with less grip for more driver involvement. Perhaps the LP-580 has a similar purpose but it is there to a lesser degree.

The R8 V10 Plus and the Turbo S are all about grip, stability and the AWD system. The LP-610 plays in a different price bracket while the GT3 RS is about aero and grip.

It is more theater than a GT3RS/Turbo S and a bigger show with its upswinging doors, but on a track and perhaps in the bang-for-the-buck department, the GT3RS and the 570S are neck and neck.

I had the chance to drive one for a couple of days. It's phenomenal. A frigging weapon! Hard to get in and out of though and I'm pretty limber.
