The Greatest 911 Ever!!
The 2016 991 RS is the best 911 ever and a phenomenal machine (full stop!).
I took my 19 year old nephew to a local autocross event organized by PCA. There were 44 cars (not all of whom were Porsches).
My nephew is a relatively new driver and never did an autocross before. On the other hand, I have raced with PCA for over 15 years and have won my fair share of races with not only early 911's but also a 997 Cup car.
I feel stupid (ego severely bruised!) for admitting this but my nephew kicked my butt with my own RS!! He almost won TTOD (top time of the day) but lost out by 2/100ths of a second to a prepped 911 twin turbo. His best time was a 48.5 seconds while my best time was 49.1 seconds.
We both beat a number of "prepped" cars with sticky tires and even a 2016 Ferrari 488 could only muster a 50.2 lap!!
My RS is totally stock (except for an aftermarket half cage and harnesses) and we ran on the Cup 2 tires that came with the car. We did not even play with tire pressures (probably way off)!!!
CASE CLOSED!!

May be the fastest, but hey fastest doesn't mean greatest quite yet. lolol
Either way it sounds like you had a blast! If your nephew has that much raw talent (or *****) maybe you should get him into to some training. The pro schools know talent when they see it.

Thanks guys. Yes, I am glad that my nephew enjoys cars and appears to have some talent. I am planning to enroll him in some of the better race schools over the next year or so (subject to his schedule at university...want him to focus on getting into med school!!), e.g. Skip Barber at Laguna Seca would be cool. After that, we may do some racing together (in 911's of course!).
The point however is that the RS is an amazing piece of machinery and technology. I am convinced that if Porsche had made it easier to put competitive slick tires (comparable to those on the Cup cars), the RS will be quicker than any stock 997 Cup car and will be close to a 991 Cup car on the track. It would not surprise me that the RS could be quicker on the track with comparable slick tires after the RS goes through a little diet to bring its weight closer to that of a 991 Cup car. All this from a street car!!

Thanks Charlie. I agree but am still pretty proud of him!! In any case, we are heading down to Infineon this month and so we will see how he does.
I'm in the market for a new helmet and it will be interesting to see what Wine Country Motorsports has in stock!! Will be trying to find one of cool carbon ones with a good fit!

I am glad you guys had great time
though to keep it real, have done several years of auto cross, outcome depends probably more on the driver than the car. We saw a lot of guys got beat by much less powerful cars. Guys with stock S2000 were beating GT3, GTR, etc
My autocross car was an E92 M3, and on several occasions we brought the wife's car 328 xi , and me and my son were running exact times with both cars on the same track, and we did this experiment on different tracks
looking at it on the surface , you would expect M3 will win hands down.
Though fully agree that RS is a great car
