At this point, my intention is to add, not replace.

definitely getting the new one because it will be better in every way.

The 9000 rpm crowd is hilarious. You know the 3.8 and 4.0 make peak power at the same 8250 rpm right? If you shift at 9, you are just accelerating slower. You could raise the rev limiter and shift at 9500 if you wanted...you'd go even slower and blow up even faster...

To each their own I guess. I guess it's testimony to how few of these RS's get used for their primary reasons the TRACK! If I was a lucky .1 991 RS owner you couldn't pry it away from me for a .2 GT3. Manual or not. IMO every iteration of an RS is always a more special car than the standard GT3 it supersedes.

Maybe someone will sell me their used .1 RS at MSRP for my number one spot for a .2 GT3 at MSRP

No, don't plan on getting any 991.2s, other than maybe a GT2 RS.

Alex. It may be worth looking at the other thread. Dunson may soon have a remedy for both the GT3 and RS engines. Yes, their work shows both suffer the same fundamental issue, only the later engines may not show the failures for a longer time. This might explain the rumour of some G and RS failures in European race series. Non the less if they do pioneer a reliable remedy then the 991.1 &RS engines may not cause future issues. The G variant MA175 and MA176 are now architecturally essentially identical. The last 500 rpm is part of the thrill of driving the new GT3 and the peak power is at 8250 but the higher rpm does provide some gearing benefits for the next gear etc.

It might be time to change your avatar :-)

Officially Porsche at minimal price extend the warranty
until 13 years, which on any >$100k car high HP (125Liter) is a must regardless

sufficient to sleep well ?
