Mike in CA makes some very good points.

However, the R is more marketing/fashion item/collector piece than a 911 GT car with MT. So I do see scope for a 991.2 GT3 MT, probably the less trouble some 4.0 with 495ps.

The 991.2 GT3RS is likely to retain the PDK and probably 525 and the last na RS expect for the super special swansong 4.2 maybe with 550ps - 600 pieces.

What I find amusing is that people think the 991R will be worth, say, a million bucks.

Really? How is is better/more valuable than the 4.0RS MT with the Mezger?

I do think the GT2 will be skipped & straight to the RS with 700ps to regain ground form the 675LT. Let;s face it, most customers want a Turbo S - not the Turbo.

However, there is ALWAYS turbo lag. It may be a millisecond but it's there and it drives me crazy on the track.
In the 991.2 when you get off the gas fuel delivery is cut but the throttle plate remains open which maintains air flow through the engine and keeps the turbos spinning (this from Cass at PSDS). You can see this by watching the boost gauge which shows 4-5 psi for several seconds even after closing the throttle. The result is that when restoring throttle response is immediate although if you can detect milliseconds of difference you might notice something!

Interesting that HH himself feels the 911R will be a million dollar car and he has some experience in the area. He thinks any of the 4.0 cars will be the ones to have for future collectibility.

I'd consider taking the bullet but rubbaman and I aren't the ones saying that. It's HH who said that to us. I don't KNOW anything about this but thought it was worthwhile sharing some impressions I got from a very interesting conversation.

Well I put Hurley in a head lock and pulled on his nose and said "tell me everything old man!" But he would not give it up! So I did my job, I'll let you try the next time you see him. But I'll take a flying banner for pulling his nose.

Note all these non turbo guys. 99% will be in if it goes turbo. Porsche always makes the next gen better than the last. Therefore they will figure out how to make an amazing car even better. Everyone will want the next best, newest toy. Given the opportunity not one will turn it down.

For me. Name on the list and I will buy whatever as long as I get a call. Oh yeah and I will also be getting PDK even if manual is offered.

I imagine "If 991 GT3 will be AT only, will you still buy it?" possible answers in 2011

991.2 GT3 is like an R with wing and PDKS optional and without diffuser and some CF bits.
991.2 RS is like GT3RS with TT.

Oh and Apple Car Play.

Rob, I tried to talk him into it this time but he had some silly excuse about work, his new book, a big family trip, etc. Next year for sure Nick!

Returning now to the usual speculation....

The 991 R owners won't have to worry b/c the .2 GT3 will be the 3.8 with the MT as an option.
