Correct. Cup uses sequential dog-box, which is essentially manual trans with straight cut gears, third pedal and pneumatically controlled paddles to minimize shift time while under power (1st image).
As for exact nature of manual in upcoming GT3 (and current 991R), we won't know for sure until we see schematics or parts catalog, but I suspect it'll be much closer to the PDK derived 7-speed (2nd & 3rd image) in the current Carrera than to Cup gearbox.

This thread has/had so much good information, stayed pretty much on topic, it's pertinent IMO to revive it... real deal soon now. Might as well add this pic taken from another thread. Interesting how much information posted was accurate from so many months ago
