Will the 991.1 GT3 appreciate or depreciate at some point? None of us can know. There are valid reasons why it could go either way. And whatever happens over the next 6 months or two years isn't the final word. So many of the older Porsche models depreciated year after year, and then they started going crazy.

I plan on keeping mine, as in permanently. Appreciation or depreciation are things that someone else will have to figure out. Not going to be my problem.

I personally plan to spec my .2, get it, then get a rid of .1 asap.

Can get complicated though, as my dealer said .2 GT3 list is already crazy long and they are not sure they'll get that much allocations. Crazy world.

What would the cost be to rebuild the engine or make it bullet proof? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm leaning towards the 997.1 so I'm not up to speed on the "E" and "F" engines. Is it a design flaw or materials issue?

Rob how do you come up with that # ? If he sells the car for asking 138K
and he paid 152K , the car has 36K miles I figure you divide the miles
36k by his cost of ownership 14k, comes up to $ 2.57 per mile, I like your
.39 cents per mile # ; think I go for a Sunday drive since I can't go for the
"Sunday Money" with mine .

is that not correct ?

Try to multiply miles by your mile cost

It will be interesting to see the final sell price. I think wholesale on this car is 110k and selling point will be between 115k and 120k. Kudos to the owner for driving it 36k miles...that's lot of smiles!!!

Unless it was replaced a second time a 2014 will be an "e" engine. I.e. The recalled engines were replaced with "e". I guess it's possible the original 2014 engine was a,b, c or d. But I'm just making **** up at this point

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I had 2 2014's both with "e" and never had an issue. They were both flawless but they had roughly 8 k on them.

I can't recall a single moment in the car when I thought "I wish this thing was manual instead of PDK." The zeal for the manual 991 GT3 cars is there now, but I won't be surprised if the PDK cars wind up selling better in the used market as people increasingly become sold on PDK. Manual has its place, but IMO not so much in these particular cars designed for fast track use.
+1. I think the tide is turning on those who preferred a manual who've experienced the GT3 PDK. Count me among them. I have a 50th Anniversary with a manual and a PDK GT3. If I purchase another N/A GT3, I'll option the PDK. It's that good.

Why 6 months? New 991.2 will be announced that early?

There was a poll about pdk vs. Mt. The numbers were surpringly close.

Was out in my RS today and was surprised at the excited reactions of the younger generation with the car including cell phone pics etc...these kids are the paddle shift generation and read all the auto mags touting the latest and greatest super cars many of which are paddle shift. Perhaps the 991 RS will be on their "classic" got to have list when they acquire the ability to buy high end cars one day.
