I'd say 5-7 weeks in average.

2-3 weeks is a very optimistic prediction.

Once the analysis is done and they have a decision, it should be 2 -3 weeks to obtain parts, install, test and return the car. The whole process can take 6-7 weeks but you are half way through it already. My top end rebuild was more powerful than my old engine. Good luck.

Can you explain to me the difference between a top end rebuild and what my car is getting done (cylinder head replace & poss cam)
Sorry for my lack of knowledge.....

Thanks!

Sorry, same thing. New heads, cam followers, and cams put on the old block and cylinders. This is the normal action for this issue. It took a week for all the parts to arrive and another to put it together and test it.

With the top end rebuild do you get extra warranty?

New engine would be fast and easy.

Rebuild is slow and often comes with complications that occur during the process.

I had a rebuild and good friend of mine had rebuild. In both cases in took approx. 3 months. Complications were different, but outcome was the same. Sorry to disappoint you.

Better clarification, agree completely on all points.

So SA called. They replaced all cylinders heads and camshaft just got in from Germany. Car should be ready in couple days. So my question is should ask Porsche for extended warranty as a compensation ? Or that only happens when you get a new engine ???

I already had a CPO warranty so I did not, but if I didn't have that I would definitely negotiate a warranty.

So got word from SA car will be ready tomorrow. He told me to keep it under 4000 rpm for the first 1000 miles. What do you guys recommend? Top end rebuild requires break in period ?

Default 2016 Misfire

I am sad to announce that my 16 started misfiring today at COTA. P0346 code. Reset. Was OK for awhile, then came back.

Oh no! Reminds me of last year when we were all out there and mine suffered the same. Not fun watching everyone else have fun, and just waiting for transport back to CA.:/

Try short shifting to see if CEL doesn't trigger. This would be a good indicator of the known motor design flaw issue.

I need to put more track miles on my replacement motor before warranty expires. :/
