Perfect example. Same engine with manual transmission has same redline.

You guys can't be serious about your money shifts, a couple hundred rpm lower redline is going to make a difference on a good 3 to 2 screw up?

Bottom line, I hope we have one more NA gt3rs and one more manual and NA gt3. No doubt they will both be improvements over their dot 1 counterparts. But if not, I can certainly live with my PTS 991.1 gt3rs just fine.

You money shift, they read the over revs,no warranty. It's always been like that. So what?!
Human beings are prone to failure in all aspects of life. Shall we stop living?

Coming back to the subject,if you're scared of money shifts buy PDK or drive to CC only.

FWIW,on the GT4 there's a display smack in the middle that displays the gear you've selected BEFORE releasing the clutch. It doesn't help much when you're on the track at speed because you are busy with other things, but I suspect there are ways they can make this a non issue...

It's actually 8,600 on the tach just as the GT4's redline is 7,600 on the tach. The actually fuel-cutoff is 200 rpm higher for each, afaik (Click pic to enlarge).

I woul however be pissed off if one mistake on the track led to engine issues. That's all I'm saying. I didn't realize you're such a baller and could care less if you money shift a new manual GT3 and blow a 40k motor. But you're not scared of that so good for you. I'm sure you'd be just slapping 40k down for a new motor so you can get back on the track and do it again and again and again. I'm sure if you money shifted a new 991.2 manual GT3 and the motor blew on the spot you wouldn't ask Porsche for a new motor. You'd just say my bad! But I ain't scared!
I'm far from a " baller " but I would undoubtedly/unmistakably/without a question prefer a manual and take that chance, rather than being stuck with PDK for the majority of time when I'm not on the track.

The list of cons is long for a manual and there really is only one pro: fun.

Exactly what you want! Otherwise we'd all be driving automatic Priuses...

I couldn't agree more. I think I will go manual gt3 and PDK gt3rs to have the best of both worlds.

You can't beat that combo if you can swing it...

I'm still in the opinion that if the next GT3 is NA with a MT, it will not match the performance on the present and future 991.2 911's.

I think the .2 GT3 will be 4.0L NA. It will be offered in both manual and PDK-S, as the first step in separating out the Porsche line that AP spoke about when releasing the 911R,
One car intended more for pure driving pleasure----.2 GT3 with manual
One car intended more for track performance --- .2 GT3 with PDK-S

In the future I think Porsche will have a 911 line just for driving pleasure that is NA, and always has a manual option, while every other Porsche is PDK only and powered by Turbo, electric, or hybrid engines.

And in direct response to your point, a 4.0 L NA 991 GT3 with PDK-S, (not manual) will still beat 991.2 Carreras on a track, not the Turbo S on some tracks but they'll beat the regular turbo Carreras on all tracks.
