"Bucket Seats"
A Porsche enthusiast noted, to me, that "Sport Bucket" seats are offered on the Porsche U.K. website configurator, for most 911 series, while the "U.S." website lists "Full Bucket" seats on the RS only. Apology if this topic covered before, but the U.K. Sport Buckets sure look like GT2 seats. If I understood correctly "GT2" seats will not retrofit in current 991 series. Comments??

It is my understanding that mechanically these 991 GT2 seats will fit perfectly, but the side air bag connector is not compatible with the 991 connector. Is that correct -- I believe their are ways to rewire the connectors, but there would be the potential for liability. Not sure it's worth the risk to try and hook up the air bag. |

I have the "997 GT2" (optional 991 EU folding carbon sport buckets) in my 991 GT3. A good tech can reprogram the multiple control units to recognize the airbags, some can't. The hardware is not the problem. The connectors are the same. It took my tech 30 minutes to get the airbag to work, having to manually enter the serial number. A good friend had his seat installed in his GT3 and another tech, at the same dealer couldn't get the airbag programmed. These are an option in the EU so they should be plug and play.

Where did you source them and how much? What bar are you using for the harness?
Reprogramming the airbag doesn't sound fun, but sounds possible, and worth it! Why not! |
"On Sale" at Suncoast. With "Crest" and no model designation for $10,800 FWIW

Check with your dealer as one forum member contacted me after being told his dealer wouldn’t reprogram the airbags even though they could, due to potential liability. Since I drive the car on the street and track, I prefer having working OEM side airbags than after market seats with no airbag. I suppose like most things Porsche these days, it comes down to your relationship with the dealer. The harness cage is BBi. If I were to do that I again I would go with the less cross member version to get more access to the rear storage for luggage. |
