DIY Pad Change
Hi Guys,
I searched for some info on this, but didn't turn up much, so looking for a couple of pointers.. I did a track day at Imola in my 2015 GT3 last week, and when leaving, one of the techs commented the front pads looked a bit low. I just checked and they had 5-6mm left on the outside. The rears more, 9mm I think. Iron brakes, not PCCB.
I found this video which shows a disk/rotor switch, and it looks easy..
- thing is I remember a few people here writing that pad changes are a PITA.
So, just after a little info:
* anyone know the right thickness to change? Maybe the P spec..
* what was the difficult bit people experienced?
Thanks,
Dave

Minimum thickness is quite subjective... You could use the pads almost at the backplate (1/2mm).
I said almost because the risk is to damage the rotor due to uneven wear (pad tappering), putting the backplate in contact.
But otherwise I don't see why you should not use the whole thing (If you don't fade).
5/6mm seems enough for at least one trackday (depending how you drive, of course).
To give you an idea, I have a set of stock pads that I didn't really used and the thickness is around 10-11mm.
