Take the GT3RS wing off for DD or driving around town?
Has anybody tried taking the GT3RS wing and the uprights off for driving around town and as a daily driver?
I thought if this can be done for driving under 50 MPH the engine lid wing should create sufficient downforce to operate the vehicle safely on dry pavement. It could help reduce attracting attention in town and reduce the risk of damage from vandalism etc. while parked. For track or for more exhilarating driving one could put the wing back on.

I plan on doing this when my RS arrives in July and it's not being tracked. I am going to use my 3D printer to replicate the lower portion of the brackets to fill the gaps. I'm not sure how it will look, but it's worth a try for a few dollars in material.

Not a bad idea I suppose.... May actually look good...
But your car will be plenty save driving w/o the wing and the "lack" of downforce. WELL above 50. Really any street situation.

Personally, I make it a habit never to leave my GT3 unattended. I just don't use it for "those" trips.

Think it would look fine and the down force wouldn't matter at any reasonable street speeds. The question is, daily driving an RS?!

At what speed will the 911R wing come up? I believe, the GT3RS's lower wing built-in to the lid should offer just about as much downforce as the 911R wing does when it comes up. Perhaps it may increase the top speed of the GT3RS to 200 MPH? It may even reduce the 0-60 time further since the 911R's wing is non-exixtant at 0-60 MPH range while you still have the small fixed duck-tail wing on the GT3RS (the engine lid slopes down in the 911R as opposed to the duck tail of the built-in lower wing of the GT3RS). The engine being the same, the PDK and launch control on the GT3RS would be much better than the MT on the 911R.

There is a UV photo somewhere with the wing removed and it looks good. I'll never be able to fly under the radar wingless in a green RS though so I might as well keep the wing on or even get a bigger one.
