I was in contact with Porsche Exclusive in Zuffenhausen this week in order to spec my 991 R. The stripes and the text on the side could be ordered in any colour from the entire 3M range. There was also the choice between glossy, or non-glossy (standard) surface on the stickers. I assume this could also be ordered on non-PTS cars, allowing for some individuality.

Correct, any color in the 3M catalogue.

I see you have white/green combo for your 911R. Very interesting combination of colors indeed, can't wait to see it!

Side question, but does that mean the motorsport decals from Porsche are all non-glossy? I thought they were glossy.

I was told that normally the stickers from Porsche are glossy (e.g. the ones on the 997 GT3 RS 4.0). For the R they have used non-glossy stickers to make them look more "race like".

From my experience, when you look at the 991 R IRL the stripes (non-glossy) look more like stickers on the paint vs. the ones on the RS 4.0 (glossy) that look more like they are painted stripes on the car.

Can you please confirm that the stripes on top of the 911R are indeed decals and not painted in? How about the ones on the sides/door, they do look like decals. Did they confirm that on your spec order sheet? Please advise.

Drive safe,
GT3RS-Fan1

Yes, that is correct. Both the stripes on top of the car and the text/ lines on the side are decals. In the configurator you can pick the standard version of the decals (red or green stripes and red or green or black text/ line on the side). All other variants are special order with Porsche Exclusive.

Decal colors can be in any 3M color of that series. I am not sure which series, but your dealer should be able to find out through Porsche Exclusive.

Also, the wheels can be painted in any standard 991 (either V1 or V2) color, as well as the mirrors.

I believe all this stuff has been put out there for the dealers to know, but not many actually read any of it.

There are ten deviated stitching colors too.

So we now know AP is a marketing man. He says in the EVO interview that he would order the car without full leather. Guess he forgot huh?

F**k me! Stunning colour and car! I wonder if there is anyone who ordered the new 911R in Meissen Blue, without the stripes of course. That would be epic.

This is not Andreas'.. This is one of the #000/991 cars, built as a feasibility study for different color decals and stitching with the interior. He does get to drive it around though.

He has mentioned before in interviews that his only regret is not having a job which would allow him to purchase his own.

If that is true, we should start a group right now convincing Porsche to give Andreas that exact car! It would be quite cool if it was known that Porsche made 991 Rs plus one for the man behind Porsche's exceptional range of GT cars after the 996 GT3.

Before you do any of this, I would ask Herr Preuninger. Though we all would mean well, others might take it in a differnt way and it could cause a problem.

I stopped by Stuttgart before i head to Le Mans over the weekend.

Boy it was crazy times at Porsche hospitality.

Anyway, when I stopped by Stuttgart to config my R, I had new information about PTS.

It was seems I was told an incomplete statement at Leipzig about PTS and I wasn't aware enough to dig deeper, unlike someone else here who had more of an interest in PTS and would know to ask more.

The PTS question was brought up again in Stuttgart, and the detail was that PTS is done in house in Stuttgart, while PTS is done by a 3rd party in Leipzig. So the Panamera and Cayennes gets the 3rd party treatment only.

And yes, the stripes on the R can be of any colour from the 3M range, be it matted or glossy, and the stripes, the graphics on the side and the script can be colour customized and mixing matted and glossy.

I was told 'all cars are painted by 3rd party' in Leipzig, which is correct in the person's point of view as all cars from 'Leipzig' which is that factory. But not 'all cars' as in all Porsche cars.

Oh an one last thing, that BRG car is a 000. Think all you want but it basically is a PTS 'trial' car.
