This thread was about PTS and not getting PTS. Your constant soapbox diatribes are getting annoying to be honest. Keep them to the other 911R thread where you've been quite vocal and you can spar with wolf and anon 918, or back with your chirping on the RS Ebay price thread

Hopefully, photos of some of these PTS 911Rs will make their way to RL.

No one complained about not getting one. They also made only 600 997 GT3RS 4.0, no one complained about not getting one either. You are just bitter that you couldn't buy a money making car. Period.

Cleaning lady have spoken.

Around 50 PTS cars worldwide. 15 PTS cars for North America (14 cars for US and 1 car for Canada). And black, yellow and orange does not count as true PTS because they are painted in-house. True PTS cars are painted in a 3rd party facility.

Only 14 super duper vips for NA...that's impressive restraint from Porsche.

A contact at Porsche Exclusive NA told me that they simply gathered the names of 911R buyers and sent them to Germany. Porsche HQ then picked as they wanted based on PTS production availability. If I were wealthy I think I'd be more upset than I am being a peasant, just because I couldn't get what I wanted. lmao

Default PTS & the R...

That was told to me last month by someone ordering an R from

No, they are not PTS because these are $0 cost standard color offerings,
or $3140 as 'Special Color', on the 991! Yet, on the 911R, PAG will charge
you $6,950 for the 'privilege' of having these common hues! 'True' PTS
is when you, as a customer, have the full range of approved 'deviating'
colors available, which now covers 5 pages!

For the 911R, I was told that the PTS cars are sent to a 3rd party to do the painting. This is why PTS is so limited on the R. At least this is what I was told.

I know that the internet is serious business, but you'll have to relax and not let what I say annoy you. I'm the voice of the common mere mortal man. Let's be friends.

Btw, I'd love to see some PTS Rs...the whole PTS process is such a black box.

I don't know if you have been following PTS at Porsche closely, but
that particular option has been quite limited for a while now, especially
on the gt3, gt3 RS, gt4 & 981 Spyder.

The 911R will be built in Zuffenhausen & they have the ability to do
PTS on all of these cars right there. Their paint facilities are 'State of
the Art'. It's just a question of logistics re: the strict procedures PAG
follows to allow PTS for their cars & the coordination of the painted
parts (exterior & interior) which come from sub-contractors & outside
vendors. PTS is not a high priority at PAG for the production engineers.
And until it becomes so, these bottlenecks will continue to exist & PTS
will remain 'difficult' to get in certain high-demand models.

But I am curious. What third party painter do you think they would
be sent to? Earl Scheib GmbH in nearby Fellbach?

Default Slate grey 915

I am one of the 24 Very lucky French guy to get an R
My car is currently ordered in black by I asked to my dealer to get it in slate grey color code 915. Eduardo helped me a lot to make the right choice and i thank him again for his great help. It was indeed in the color palette in 1967. My request is currently under study at PAG as all the 991 R request. I confirm that I heard that they will be around 50 PTS cars worldwide. PAG is the only one to decide. Porsche exclusive team in zuffenhausen doesn't even know how the choice is made and who decide. I know that at least one guy in France asked for classic grey. I am confident that it will work. We should have an answer quiet soon now. I also heard that one 991 R will be given to one Porsche employee after that a lottery take place. In europe it appears that a couple of exclusive car dealers are requesting 200 k rue premium for a car.
As I am a huge fan of this car I would like to start a registry of all the 991R with order details, color, VIN and country. I am thinking o something similar to the one existing on the Ferrari 360 challenge Stradale www.challenge-Stradale.com
If I have enough people interested I am willing to launch a worldwide club and a dedicated website.
If some future 991 R owner are interested please send me a MP
Regards
Sebastien

That would be a very interesting registry. Thanks for doing that Sebastien!

Best wishes with obtaining PTS!! Slate grey is 615 (I'm sure you knew that, as 915 must be a typo), and is a perfect choice! It would be amazing if you could get car 013/991 (chassis 13 was slate grey in 1967).

BTW does anyone know if feuerrot (86D currently approved code) is the same colour as the one of the same name that appeared on the 911R in 1967?

Sorry Eduardo,

Unotaz is correct.

True PTS are sent off to a 3rd party for all models be it a Stuttgart production car or Leipzig production car. That's why the limited capacity. It also takes time to validate and inspect the finish to pass Porsche's own standard.

The so called 'fake' PTS like the black, orange and yellow on the R are painted in house, that part is correct.
