There will always be sour grape syndrome.

Porsche has 991 very happy 911R customers. Bet you those 991 customers buy more Porsches in a year than many whining customers, who might buy one every 5 year.

Porsche made only 500 GT2RS, almost half that of the 911R. No one complained about not getting one.

They also made only 600 997 GT3RS 4.0, no one complained about not getting one either.

You are just bitter that you couldn't buy a money making car. Period.

I don't want a car that holds/appreciates in value

I want a car that depreciates. That way when I'm driving the doors off of it I can not think about how I'm not looking after my investment

I don't understand buying a driving car as an investment. Maybe a classic as a garage queen but otherwise...

WRONG, I buy cars to drive and not to invest in...that's what real estate and trading stocks/options are for. I sell cars that I don't drive, simple as that. I'm a proud non-collecting driver who drives over 50k miles a year!

Different financial times in 2010-2011. The Porsche collector market had not yet exploded and $200-250k was a whole lot for a 911. You could pick up a CGT at the time for, what, $400k? And, opposite to now, there were plenty of new manual transmission 911 GT cars for most of the prior four years. Of course no 918 program to effectively reduce supply to 7 cars, either.

Then the R is not for you.

It is basically the beta car for the next GT3, for testing out the durability of the manual box.

Go for the next GT3 manual. That one you can drive the bejesus out of it.

I believe there were only 133 GT2RS that made it to the USA.

Even without the 918 VIP program back then, the effective supply was basically at -7 cars with all the special VIPs for each dealer. Yes, negative 7.

Don't even look at those numbered limited edition cars, look at the GT3RS instead.

There are over 180 dealers in the USA, plus the 18 in Canada, say 200 North American dealers total. Each dealer will have a wait list of at least 20 customers with deposits for an RS some have a even long list, perhaps 60. Porsche didn't even import close to 4000 cars to North America. Most of the dealers don't even go down that wait list fairly, they pick and choose whoever will pay a market adjustment, and bump those up the wait list.

In the end, the dealers are the one stacking the deck, not the 918 VIP owners. Dealers are the bad guys.

Spot on!

Only reason to be upset for not being able to get R is

1. Can't wait for the 991.2gt3 MT. NEED IT NOW

2. Wants to be involved in the gambling/flipping of modern cars.

What some people forget is that the market moves two ways.

991R will always be a special car in Porsche history. BUT, not a guarantee moneymaker short term.

Just wait and see what happens when 991gt2rs and 991.2gt3 MT hits the shores.

I'm upset (well not really) I can't get a 911R because I have a car buying addiction and every other Porsche available now is uninteresting to me. Beyond the GT2 RS I'm not really interested in the 991.2 having already owned a 991.1 TTS.

Now I have to buy other brands to feed the addiction, I just wish they would make some decent product and fast...

My recon PTS list is up to 3 now and I am not on it. I did get PTS wheels.

2 of 3 are on here, well the 3rd guy told me he is fighting hard for it and tends to get what he wants. I will not name names, they are lucky and can keep it to themselves.

Contrast. Green stripes and wheels are not green...although that is a good idea. Maybe a spare set in green though?! Lol.
