Ok, here are the interesting real facts about the 911R:

- 911R 6 speed gearbox is 6.6 lbs lighter than the 991 7 speed gearbox, due to removing the 7th gear and it is 44 lbs lighter than the PDK 7 speed

- reinforced shift stops, reduced cable pull damping and a gear lever shortened by approximately 20mm (0.79in) compared to the 991 7 speed manual

- omission of the centrifugal pendulum on the dual-mass flywheel, saves another 2.2lbs, thus improving the mass moment of inertia by around 5%

- the optional single mass flywheel saves another 11lbs over the dual mass flywheel, and reduces the mass moment of inertia by another 28%

You wrote "an easy 100kg fix"

No there is no 'easy 100kg fix' from the gearbox. The car already has a lighter gearbox than the PDK and the 7 speed.

So the snobbers are actually driving an automatic heavy trasmission,
7th gear and dual clutch less,

with an additional 3rd pedal
to get more involved??

or it is a real manual gearbox?

Is this a real question??

Can't you read? It's a MANUAL 6 speed gearbox that is 6.6lbs lighter than the 991 7 speed MANUAL gearbox, making it 44lbs lighter than the 7 speed PDK gearbox.

Please do not pollute this thread. It is very specifically for discussing how to reduce weight on the car, for people who are getting the car and for people with RS or GT3 that want to get some of the same parts.

Robert what about increasing the lightness of the pccb brake system and uprights? I know on your GS America 964 you have Koeniggsegg style full carbon rotors and carbon wheel carriers.

By the time we get to Kit 3 or Kit 4, we can attack the brake system, the uprights, other suspension components, possibly the dampers. These things are quite expensive but certainly are doable. Again, if you are going to keep the car and want something quite extraordinary, all these things can be done and, I would opine, are worth it because.... But, as T. E. Lawrence said to Auda Abu Tayi, you must do this 'because it pleases you', because if some of you are going to go all the way to hundreds of kg (2.2 lb = 1kg) of weight reduction, the cost will be high, possibly $500,000 or more, and the only, if at all, minor comfort that you might have is that I will be in the boat with you.

Just ordered a new Ohaus EX35001 scale so as to accurately weigh parts (R, GT3 GT3 RS) and new Kit parts.

Wow, fascinating stuff. I lot of this will apply to other Porsches as well.

I got my 4.0 down to 3050lbs(scaled). My RS is the heaviest spec I think and scales in at 3250.
The GT4 is very light by todays standards at 2955lbs (Advertised) what is the advertised weight of the R?

Looks like 3,020 (1,370kg) on the British Porsche site. US spec comes without thin glass...
