Track season is near. Looking for wheel and tire solution for track. I see lot of wheels, Forgeline, HRE etc but noting about race tires. Does anyone have a solution? Last fall I tracked my car with the OEM Michelins but they overheat after 3-4 laps and the grip goes away. It's a shame to track this car on street tires after years on my '10 RS with N2 slicks.
I'm sure you'll find better tire guru's than myself (since I would just call myself an enthusiast rather than an expert), but the set we did on the 991 GT3, the R101's in 19x9.5 and 19x12 we did with 265/35/19 and 325/30/19 Pirelli Trofeo R tires which you see below. It does looks like there are more options for tires in that size to consider though.
In 265/35/19 and 325/30/19 tire rack shows a lot of R-Compound tires like the Trofeo R of course, Bridgestone's RE-11, and Toyo's R888 which I all have experience with and I can say all have their benefits. For extreme track use though, I see Hoosier lists their R7 slick tire as well if you wanted to take it to that level!

I too am looking for more track oriented tires for my RS.
the "potential" problem is that unlike the GT3, the RS comes with staggered diameter tires front to rear (20, 21) and I worry that going to 19" on both will upset the PASM. It's fine on the GT3 as you are downsizing both equally, but may not be fine on the RS.
I know I can turn PASM off, but honesty, given the price of the car and the fact that the PASM will have a much better chance of saving my a$$ if I happen upon oil or anti-freeze on the track surface -- braking with one wheel in ways that I cannot -- leaves me waiting.
Waiting for someone else to try 19"s F&R with the nannies on to see if the PASM gets upset, or waiting for the 20" R7s (supposed to be coming this summer) or other tire maker to come out with appropriately sized 19s&20s so I can stagger in an effort to not lose the safety net. I personally don't want to sink 5 figures into wheels and tires only to find out that the only way to use them is with the safety nets off.

I've read the warranty is toast if you run with slicks. Something about the traction being excessive and over-straining various components. And apparently Porsche has a way of knowing.
I run 19" Pirelli slicks on my track car (3.8L Cayman) - very happy with them.
They're the 458 challenge OEM tire, 255/650-19 and 305/690-19s. They now have 325/705-19 and 325/725-19 rears which I assume are for the 488 Challenge but probably work well with the RS.
My starting point would be to replicate the 991 Cup set up. You'll still have to deal with SPASM, ABS, and warranty issues but that's going to be the case for whatever you do in terms of slicks.
