You need RWS...
Who needs rear wheel steering? If you're running race slicks you're effectively converting your street car to a race car. Just yank the RWS. All the mechanicals from a 991 Cup will fit.

Can't have your cake and eat it too, although many kid themselves that they can. Good news is you figured that out early on.

But, but the RWS makes the front grip like slicks...
I think the cars with RWS on Hoosiers maybe as fast as without on slicks..

Plus 18" is so 2014..
Someone should brief Bernie that his F1 wheels look a bit retro...

Have you seen Formula E cars. Think they look weird. Not sure why but low profile looks out of place on open wheelers.

Default just checking

Anyone have any facts on the timing and specs of R7s in 20"?

Or 19" R7s front and rear with PSM on and working without issue?

Or any other mfr making significantly more track oriented tires than the MPSC2s for the RS?

Update - Forgeline 19s fit over my iron rotors and it seems the R7 is the only choice for a sticky tire for the moment. The GMG half cage is going in and I hope to try the set up in ten days. Alignment is a guess for now, I'll report in a couple of weeks.

Best,
Bob,
Please post pics of your RS on 19" Forgelines. Thanks!

You can run 19's over the PCCBs, but it's tight. R7s work without issue. If there is a slick in the right size it would be find.

I just bought steel calipers for better clearance.

Default Any updates?

Hi Guys,

Sorry about bumping an old thread but I thought it would be better than starting a new thread.

I'm looking to run full race slicks on my 991 RS was anyone able to fit the pirelli ferrari slicks or the Michelin slicks on their cars?

Were you guys able to fit 18 inch rims or had to stay on 19?

Thanks in advanced for the replies

Best,
I went with 19" forgelines over iron rotors and my shop told me the key is to keep the tire diameter ratios front to back within 2-3% of stock. This calculator may help--

I would agree that the RWS is a questionable component with slicks. I don't know if anyone has put some serious pace and time on the RWS with slicks. How much loading can they take and would they be prone to failure... A failure of this component could have some serious consequences at speed.

Based on my experience some of the whiz bang go fast parts are not really designed for hard paced, race type, tracking. Like the Dynamic Engine Mounts for example- these failed after half a season of time trials. They probably just don't get the same type of durability testing for the track that the usual components get for the street- and then there is Porsche's 'time out' schedules for the cup car, that most don't use for the GT car, but probably should.

EDIT: Didn't realize this thread was a year old- my point is still valid, but nobody has posted issues with RWS so while a concern, probably not an issue.

^^ No slicks possible, R7 is as fast as some have succeeded to run.

I have yet to see an issue relating to the RWS arise when running the 19" slicks. This spans a couple years now with a couple heavily-tracked cars (and many mildly-tracked cars).

Your experiences may vary depending on setup, but we've found a routine that works well for us and our clients.
