^ I would agree with you, but all indications from Porsche say it will remain NA; the only turbo GT cars being GT2 variants. An entry level GT rather than top-line 718. We shall see...

while the top on the 87 Spyder was (not REALLY that much of) a pain in the ***, it blew away the new one because driving in the sun with just the top part, and no rear curtain was THE BEST! I drove mine that way 90% of the time!!

I hope they still have one more round of NA engines in their GT series. None of us truly know. Your scenario makes sense but would rather see the GT4 replace the GT3(if in fact they are phasing out) with a PDK-S option and then the "R" as the "Manual" only purist street car.

Thus Porsche should drop the GT3 then altogether. Keep the GT3RS and make and unlimited numbed of the 911R with any transmission.

Agree that the GT4 will be distanced from the GT3, but I think it will stay NA.

All they have to do for the next GT4 is give it the full 400HP and 325 torque from the 991.1 Carrera engine, and ALSO give it proper low track gearing, and all the GT4 drivers will be thrilled and will upgrade to the newest GT4.

If true, it sucks to replace GT3 with the 911R that looks exactly like a Carrera. Hold on to your GT3's otherwise you will need to fork out $250K for an RS. I think that's the plan. The GT4 will be GT3 price $130K, 911R $179K and RS starting $200K.

All good points....one more thing we can "waste" forum bandwidth speculating about.

I guess they would allocate more now rather than later since the 991.2 era is here already. Im sure they know there is more demand for the RS but im curious how many RS engines can they push out per day with the 991.1 bodies phasing out??

I have said this before, I just do not see Porsche killing the GT3. It is a brand within a Brand and a very valuable one at that. Besides as long as Sports car racing has a GT3 category (IMSA GTD and WEC/FIA GTE) that plays straight into Porsche's hand. I really believe that there will be a GT3 in P's lineup for a long time.
