"All this talk about 911R value and bashing has gotten really old. Who wants to talk about the active aero and the new braking system on the GT2RS?"

This upshift surge is simply caused by the difference in engine speed pre and post upshift, right? If the engine speed in the next gear is 1,000 revs lower and the shift is theoretically instant, then these excess revs will hit the drive train and create the surge. If you quickly reduce engine speed before closing the clutch, then there is no surge, which is also less stressful for the hardware.

The Carreras have the surge only in Sport Plus.

Can we get back to speculating about what the 'surprise' is under the frunk vents?

Active aero rear diffuser confirmed
New braking system, similar to the one used in the Cup cars
Cup car downforce
Targeting sub 7min lap time

I'm very interested in the new braking system on the GT2RS. I know it won't be the new Brembo Carbon Carbon braking system, which will be showcased on the new Singer uber 964 at Quail this year.

Is the new braking system using carbon/ceramic technology or cast iron?

New brake system I am guessing refers to changing from brembo which i think is the existing caliper manufacturer to PFC which I assume still makes the Cup car brakes which as you note are cast iron.

Not that a change of brakes is going to improve braking distances on a road car which are tyre limited anyway....

The PFC Cup brakes have two distinct advantages:

1. Allows use of 18" wheels with 380mm rotors
2. Allows brake pad changes from the top of the calipers (no need to dismount them from the upright)

I can't imagine #1 is a reason for the change from Porsche's perspective. But, maybe they will use even larger diameter brake rotors under the 20" and 21" wheels (could theoretically be even bigger than the 410mm diameter of the current PCCB's - hopefully not iron in this boat anchor size).
