My prediction (pure speculation as my cleaning lady seems to have either gone on a massive weed binge or lost her connection lately) is that the 992 will have some of the carbon composite sub-structures from sister company Lamborghini. New lightweight structures will allow for weight savings across the line, and we'll get both turbo and hybrid Porsche with better power to weight ratios. I can't see where significant or even meaningful weight savings can be achieved over a current 911R for example, where lightweight roof and carbon fenders are already employed, and engine is devoid of any excess snail plumbing. The upcoming gt2 RS will be the most powerful 911 for a long time, but the next 911 could beat it in the power/weight handily just by being built more like a Huracan, and less like a Porsche.

Mr. Linton is awesome but we would have a $1.5 million MSRP after all his fantastically engineered parts were added (with Porsche's additional markup)....but he would have it weigh in at only 2200lbs so sign me up!

When I left in September we still had a myriad of PVS ("Produktionsvorserie" = Second to last prototypes before the "0-Serie") cars of the GT3 and they had everything...
Manual
Manual without wing (!)
PDK-S
3,8l engine
4,0l engine
....

Even the "standard" engineers at my department did not know for sure what options they would offer in the end.
At one point it was "GT3 standard = Manual w/o wing" and the Clubsport package would include the wing and PDK-S

I think they killed the Non-Wing version though, but I wouldn't put my money on it.

4,2l engine what I read somewhere is bogus. Not possible with that engine block "safely".

I'd guess that they put the 4,0l engine from the RS with ~490hp (or even the same as RS/R with 500hp) in it.
